How much for a Cayman GTS 4.0 in the US?
I really wouldn't say it is a rival. I love the CGTS 4.0, but the M4 is a much more versatile DD and still trackable/dual purpose car. Even without kids etc, I wouldn't want the Cayman to be my only vehicle. That is the M4s trump card over the Caymans/Boxsters and even 911s. That is why people are so pissed. As it was really the only viable coupe that was good at both. They are watering down the trackable side of it in many people's opinions forcing them to look elsewhere with the G series. This doesn't take into account the obviously polarizing looks. Thankfully, there is still the M2 for BMW diehards. But, you need a CS to match an M4 comp in a lot of peoples opinions and you do without a lot of the options that are available on the M4 comps IIRC.

But, if you can have a car without compromises like a Cayman, it is really an amazing driving experience/tons o fun.
