To the OP's point, I'm not sure if A&L is used by a BMW dealer officially or not. If so, they are a great choice.
Another suggestion, if not: International Body Shop in Elmhurst, about two blocks from Elmhurst BMW on Lake St. I got rear-ended on my way to a service appointment at Elmhurst BMW, and my SA called up International Body Shop to repair the damage. They do a lot of work for Elmhurst BMW, had a lot of nice cars in the shop, even a new i8. I was very happy with the (minor cosmetic) work they did on my bumper. I can't speak to more major work from experience, but they seemed to do a great job overall and were very easy to work with.
