Anecdotally from the shop that did mine - they've seen more vehicles with problems in DCT than the manuals due to the transmission kicking down a couple gears and hitting hard - especially when modded.
They say they've done 30-40 CH jobs and most have been DCT cars. They're also the go-to shop that get referrals from other local performance shops and also the local BMW dealer for non-warranty situations.
All IMO: if you're a DCT and plan to mod I'd invest in the peace of mind and safety. Yours might not spin at all, but if it does you'd want to do a SCH fix at the same time as fixing it: so you end up doing it regardless and hopefully no other engine damage occured.
