When thinking back on my E90 335i....you will definitely be upgrading. Ride quality is far better as you're moving away from RFTs and you will experience less crash over bumps, especially in comfort mode with the adjustable suspension. You will also have new updated tech that eclipses the E90 such as back up camera, HUD, side view cameras, better iDrive, etc.

Performance wise, the S55 is loads more powerful than the N54 stock. The N54 was a great engine minus the HPFP issue and injector issues. The S55 behaves similarly but doesn't drastically loose power close to the redline like the N54. It pulls until 7600 RPM.

Only thing is better in the older model is the steering feel. You get that old "hefty" BMW hydraulic feel in the E90. The F80's steering will definitely feel much lighter, albeit, much more accurate and quicker off center. Even more so than the E90 M3.
