I always enjoyed a BMW manual during hard driving and on track. They smooth out and respond well to heat. Difference between shifting on track and feel on a sub-freezing morning was night and day. Unsure how the G8X shifter has been updated, if at all.

BMW M said in one of their videos they made zero changes to 6MT vs. that of F80 because it was already well balanced, except it now comes without a lighted shift knob.
So much for all the excuses of dropping DCT to offer MT.
