Most 'big power' N54, N55, S55 dynos I see have a 'mountain' power distribution where power falls off significantly in higher RPMs. If someone is peaking at 600+whp at 5000-5500 rpm but falling off a cliff to, say, 510whp at 7300, another car making peak 550 at 7000+ can easily be faster in a roll race.
It's all about the shape of the curve in this case.
