Comparing a 2016 to a 2016 ZCP is a bit pointless - they are different, and I believe this has been done many times and it is not what the OP is asking. He's asking if there's a difference between the 15 and 16 non-ZCP, and from Nick's video there is a difference. But from all the rants in here, they are adamant there were no changes.

No possibility BMW would change the baffling inside a muffler without giving it a new part number?
There isn't a difference guys. What anybody is hearing is the difference between a broken-in exhaust and a non-broken-in exhaust. The 2016's might also be manipulating the exhaust valves differently than a 2015 on an older I-step firmware. The exhaust is physically the same and have the same part numbers.

I've personally heard a 2015 vs. 2016 non-ZCP. Both of which had more than a few thousand miles and they sounded identical.
