Gotta hold the middle with a 10mm and use the cutout 16mm to loosen. Soon as it turns the impacter will remove it the rest of the way.
Installing you MUST hand tighten. Pay attention to the direction of the connector, and use the 10mm to rotate if needed.

I think Tommy had it loose already, or he got lucky. Mine spun too, so I had to look up the proper steps. I saw how the impacter was used to re-tighten but I look up TQ and hand tighten with TQ wrench.

Just because you can tighten with an impact doesn’t mean you should. And I’ll argue that using a torque gun is not BMW spec... I know the Bilstein kit I have specifically stated to not use an impact gun on that specific nut. |

@audioMeth has a great suggestion using the brake wrench (I'll need one soon). You can also use a 10mm on a little quarter breaker since a 1/4 ratchet head doesn't fit inside the cutout.

rear a arm bolt removal and replacement.
When reinstalling this bolt.... If you are not on a lift... make sure when you go to reinsert this bolt that you can see the far side of the fork on the a arm... when using the jack or by hand to get it realigned to reinstall the bolt... if you just blast away, the other side may not be aligned and you will hit the a arm with the bolt and spread it apart..... Ask me how I know!
As the bolt starts to thread on the far side you will know quickly if it is aligned. |

Chiming in to say thank you for this very thorough tutorial. I was able to swap my front springs in a few hours this afternoon with confidence.

I am replacing a broken rear coil spring Left Rear of my F80 with a new OEM spring. I cannot get the 21mm spring arm bolt back into the bushing for the life of me.
I have the left rear in the air only. I am jacking up the spring arm in with a jack but cannot align this. Should I remove spring? Then try to Place bolt back in and attempt to remove camber and strut bolt and replace using that technique instead? Will it be any easier to align the camber bolt first?! I can get it within a 1mm or 2mm. I have never had to thread a bolt into a bushing before so that’s why this is more complicated for me.
