Buying 2015 or 2016 M4, CPO This week - Final Questions...

Hi Friends,

After searching over 6 months for a beautiful 2011-2013 E92 M3, I've given up.

I'm now looking at two beautiful M4's... Going to pull the trigger this week and get one of them.

Both are CPO, and both are around the same price, ~$69,990. Both are beautiful.

I've had luck wiggling down the dealer to about 67. I'm thinking they will go to 66 for the sale making it a pretty good deal judging from the current market.

One car is a 2015, the other is a 2016.

The 2016 has 13k miles, the 2015 has 16k.

They are both equipped with CF roof, Executive package, H&K Sound, Adaptive M Suspension, lighting package, M-Double Clutch transmission, enhanced USB/Bluetooth integration.

The 2015 is sapphire metallic exterior and has 19" wheels 437 M Mixed Tires $1,200.00
- Side and Top view Cameras $750.00, which the 2016 does not have.

The leather appears to be in great condition, as are the exterior.

What should I be looking for at final glance to make sure I pick the right one?

There's a slight amount of rust in the wheels of the 2015 but the dealership "claims" it can be removed easily.

I'm not a HUGE car guy and I don't know the entire inner working of these beasts and exactly what to look for.

I guess... are there any thoughts or recommendations from the astute experienced M professionals here before I pull the trigger on a ~66k (70 w/ tax) purchase?

I can't tell where you are located but I would suggest picking up a new m4 off the lot. 66-69 is very steep for a car with 13-16k in mileage. If you find the right dealer you can walk away with a M4 at (or below) invoice. Deals are much easier to come on the M4 than M3. Also unlike the M3, you will find M4 on dealer lots. Not a lot but some for sure. Just past month passport in MD had 3 M4 ZCP on the lot. Perhaps just for search on cars.combfor available inventory around your area and start calling dealers. As today is Month end dealers are willing to negotiate. Good luck

How much do you think is not steep?

MSRP on the 2015 is supposedly $78,300.

What do you think I can talk them down to? 64, 65?

+50 - for that I'd order exactly what I wanted, get a great price, then Euro Deliver it

Don't do it! You can be in a brandy new one for those numbers. Or a great lease. Call BMW of Bridgeport CT.... ask to talk to Tony F, the sales manager. Tell him Jeff sent you. Tony will hook you up.

Yes, but maintenance coverage does not transfer.

I agree with what was said above, at that price point (personally) I'd go with a brand new car and maybe lose a few options.

No better feeling than driving home in a brand new car.

Agree with what's been said above. I was in the same boat between new and used but ultimately decided to go new because we found one on the lot that had everything we had (though we had to fly 1,000 miles away to Illinois to get it). If you look hard enough I'm sure you can find a new M4 at good price point especially since 2017 is coming soon.

If you insist on buying one of these two cars I would lean towards the 2016 instead of the 2015. It sounds like the only option between the two is side and top view cameras? I don't have that option and definitely don't yearn for it whereas the 2016 has updated nav and some interior tweaks that will be nice.

Wow, this thread has completely changed my outlook on what to do.

Thanks! Really, sincerely!

So when I was looking at these used ones for around the price of 66-67k, with tax, that would come out to around ~70-71k.

For the new one with the ZCP (which I very much want), and all of the options listed aside from the side and top view cameras (which I don't need) - what can you actually expect to spend on a new one with:

Harmon & Kardon
Exec Pack
Lighting Pack
M Double Clutch
ZCP Pack
Adaptive M Suspension
LED Lighting pack

I can price it out on BMW, and through my local dealership, but:

When you say below invoice price, how do you determine this? Negotiate on the car MSRP down to $xx, and then insist below invoice price (the paper write-up with all dealer associated fee's, etc.)?

I'll be searching the forums continuously in the new ZCP sections for answers, but it would be helpful to get one in this thread.

What SHOULD I pay for this car new if I look hard?

I should have local dealer figures on a new one by the end of the day, so I'll submit those in a post later as well.

1. Why would he buy a car from bridgeport? He's in Florida? I'm sure there are better deals before he comes 1200 miles north.

2. Sales manager at BMW of Bridgeport is Chris.

3. They are not known to give out the best deal. BMW of Bridgeport is known to rip off people if they are new to the game.

Some people also use 7% off the MSRP as a rule of thumb to get to invoice

Those prices for a used M4 are too high. You could buy a brand new one for not that much more.

I've attached screen shots of a no-haggle M4 pricing via USAA. USAA is not something super special or exclusive (with the exception of the $1500 incentive).

You can also build out the car on edmunds to get invoice, they list msrp and invoice prices next to each option.

Also, for your build, when considering new zcp vs cpo, the zcp comes with 20" wheels (if you like the wheels, its a bargain and can factor that against the $1200 19" option on non zcp), and adaptive M suspension is included in the package as well.

I bought a '16 built to spec last september, if i had known zcp would have been available for '16, i would have waited, now im thinking about ordering a new one. Last piece of advice is get the car with all the options you want, dont settle for less to save a few bucks. If you cant afford a new one with all the options you want, i would suggest either waiting until you can or wait for other CPOs to show up.

CPO Elite is only 5 years, and from my experience looking, before I decided to go with ED, many of the M3s and M4s I saw were CPO Elite.

I suppose it depends on how long you plan to keep the car. I would not choose CPO just to try and get a higher resale value down the road.

IIRC, if the CPO car has under 15k miles, the added warranty is only 1yr/25k instead of 2yr/50k.

I'm at the dealership now, looking to buy new after many forum members suggested that those two I posted (CPO's) were NOT worth the price...

Waiting for sales, should be a few more mins...

Let's see if I can get invoice price or less w/ rebates as suggested by another forum member.

I'll update with the best deal I can get today, get them to put it all in writing, scan it up, and post it up for all of you whom are interested in pricing the new ZCP M4.

They know I'm looking for invoice price or better, and this thread has prepped me, so we'll see what bullshit they try to throw at me.

If it looks like garbage, I'll be on my way home and looking in a different area.
