The M5 and M6 are a good example of this. They're completely different models, but have the same (roughly) performance figures. But of course, everything is speculation right now. I'm going off a limb and what BMW have done in the past (E92/E90, E36).

I wouldn´t be so sure that the F80M3 doesn´t get an carbon roof, but for sure it would be painted like the rest of the car, because only coupes would get visible carbon roofs.

Not that his word is gospel 100% of the time, but Scott said no CF roof for the F80. Your theory that it would be offered but painted is an interesting one, though.

If (which I doubt) they offer the cf roof for the sedan I would assume they wouldn't paint it. It adds to the image for the vehicle both visually and from a marketing standpoint. I am sure it would be cheaper to just not paint it.

Weight Predictions?
Considering the weight differences between the F30 and E90 are negligible, I would be surprised to see the next M3 coming in at less than 3500 lbs.
