Will the 2014 M3 be a one year model like the 2008 e90 M3???
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com if that's the case, wouldn't it be worth waiting a year to be at the beginning of a longer product cycle with the added cosmetic enhancements of the LCI? Just a thought. Sorry if this has been discussed... Last edited by Raikkonen; 10-16-2013 at 08:52 PM.. |

How can anybody possibly talk about MSRP when nobody knows what that will be, let along what allocations will be. Everybody that has a deposit is at a price TBC.

That awesome. I believe that if they told you that it's true. There are some good dealers out there. I am eyeing the M4 in two years and really excited to see people get good deals out of the gate. I hate when a car manufacture releases a new car and it just gets marked up to hell.

There are so many running changes and "corrections" during the first model year, if you are able to wait, I think second year of the model would be better, plus each year after the first they always seem to make the options packages better, like including more stuff in them.

The LCI isn't that big of a deal, is it? I thought it was like $900 to get updated. Retrofitting the newer nav system, on the other hand...

The E90 3 Series launched in early 2005, and the E90 M3 hit US in early/mid 2008. So the the E90 chassis already had three years under its belt by the time the M3 arrived. There was no avoiding the fact that the LCI would be there hot on the heels of the M. For this generation, M division has stepped things up by about a year. The F30 went on sale in early 2012, yet the F80 will be here in early to mid 2014. This means that we'll have an extra year of M3 sedan production as compared to the E90, and as a consequence we'll have more time with the car before the LCI arrives. |

Depends on the LCI I guess. My 2008 M5 was the first year of the LCI and it had a new interior, new nav stuff, updated taillights, and a few other things I'm not thinking of off the top of my head. No way that could have been upgraded for $900.

What kinks exactly? The F30 will have been out for nearly 3 years and shares the vast majority of components prone to 'kinks' (ie. electronics) with it.

2014 M4 - 100% brand new car
LCI M4 - 2 to 3 year old design with new head lights (probably) I fail to see why the LCI is so much more desireble, especially when you don't even know what's included in the LCI.. |

For example, an LCI will depreciate much faster than an early model car because of the fact that when you decide to sell the LCI again after, lets say 3 years, the new model is approaching. |

quality and value of LCI improvements aside, I must confess feeling nervous when buying a first year production. Even with things overlapping in other models, still I've heard too many stories of early model year issues. My 2006 M3 has been a near flawless ownership experience and the fact that it was the last year for the e46 is probably a big part of it.
