help decide ... RE-11 or PS4S on 437m's?
Been reading ALOT about different tires for last couple of months. I want something to replace my stock mpss on my 437 19 wheels; I have a stage 1 flash tune and obviously don't have enough grip on the street thru first 2 gears.
My goals are max grip on the street while still being a decent daily driver, so I've narrowed it down to either PS4S and RE-11. I've ruled out RE-71r due to reading how loud they are, occasional velcro/tape strap noise, etc, (but drool about their insane grip). Either way, I'd get 285/35 on the rears. From my readings it seems PS4S has longer life, slightly less grip; RE-11 has shorter life and slightly more grip? (and wider tread width at 10.4 vs 10). All other things (except wet traction) seem to be more or less equal. What do you guys think? PS4S or RE-11? Last edited by ReddsektoR; 05-14-2018 at 04:39 PM.. |

Just go with the re71r. I have them on my beater of a daily driver and the Velcro noise you are talking about only happens when you run over painted lines on tarmac or driving on a concrete section of a freeway. Otherwise they are fine in the noise department on normal tarmac. The cornering ability and the ability to take curves FAST is well worth it. I would run the re71r in a heartbeat on the M3 if they made them in 666m wheel sizes
Btw the Velcro noise is really from the stickiness of the tire. When you run your hand over the dry compound tread, they feel like glue!! |

Good luck finding RE11’s, they’ve been discontinued for a bit now. RE71r’s are the replacement.
You will probably want Yokohama AD08, Bridgestone RE71R, Michelin pilot sport cup 2, toyo R888R, or something along those lines. |

my discount tire can order the re-11's
AD08's are also a nice compromise I must admit re71r's are better DD compared to PSC2 and R888, i may re-consider the re71r's then Last edited by ReddsektoR; 05-15-2018 at 10:42 AM.. |

I'm surprised they're able to order RE11s still...hmm has me thinking!
I've ran RE11 (265/285), RE71R (255/275) & (265/285), and PSS (255/275) & (265/285) on the stock wheels...honestly my suggestion for someone not tracking the vehicle would be the new Michelin 4S and not the other options here. RE71 and RE11 both make unique noises (not too bad unless they're wore quite a bit), and are stiff tires compared to the Michelins. Outright grip? Surprising close from my experience. RE71s were 1sec. faster around the track over the RE11, and 2-2.5sec. faster than the PSS (all my experience, take it with a grain of salt). 275 vs 285 produced very similar laptimes. RE11s wear very well even when abused on track, where the RE71s wear very quickly. All these have good steering feel and perform well in the wet. My vote: Michelin Pilot 4S 265/285. |

You thinking too much lol. Your work is only a 5 minute drive - just get the RE-71R. Plus your exhaust is so loud you probably won't even hear the tires! Even I'm getting it this summer hopefully if my tires wear down more.

my stock PSS are on the louder side, and that's over the exhaust lol. Plus its a daily driver everywhere including long trips, not just a weekend car or to work, and lastly no adaptive suspension for a more comfortable ride like yours lol
