Rev-matching issue (in Sport +)
Hey guys, I've got about 7,000 miles on my f80 (manual) and I drive it about 99% in Sport +. For a little while now I've been having some problems with rev-matching trying to occur while in Sport +. It happens when I'm in low rev's in 3rd or 4th down shifting into 2nd or 3rd. I notice it a lot now when I' coming to a slow or stop but it doesn't happen exactly like rev-matching should work like when in Sport mode. You can tell it's f'ing up because it blips the engine but usually it happens well after I have already shifted into gear (usually rev matching happens as soon as your shift into gear). I'm going to bring it to service but I"m just curious if anyone else has had this happen.

Shocked that 8400 RPM killed your engine. I've personally never money shifted, but a friend of mine went to ~9500 RPM (~2500 RPM over) once in his Cobra, and his engine turned out just fine. Perhaps luck on his end. You'd also need to be really slamming it in gear to get it to go to 2nd by accident.

No, they looked at it and found no faults triggered. I think I have started to understand the issue, so maybe you guys can confirm if this happens to you (manual cars only). I think this issue happens only when the clutch is depressed right around the bite point. If I move my seat forward and press the clutch deeper during shifts it seems to stop completely. I don't enjoy this because its not as natural for me to shift gears but I can deal with it. Can anyone try and confirm?
