Any Negative feedback on AWE exhaust.
Hey all
So after endless hours on the internet researching exhausts I am thinking the AWE Non Resonated exhaust could be the right option for me. Just wondering if anyone had any negative experiences of what seems like a great product? Also any pispcs of 102mm tips would be great Thanks M |

On the product side I had fitment issues. The dual 3" pipes are a real tight squeeze and I had rubbing near my rear end. After removing the system we found marks on the rear control arms where it had been lightly rubbing even tho lined up within spec on the rack. I also had real noisy valves in mine. I tried to get support for fitment issues but...
On the company side I had trouble getting AWE to respond to me about my fitment issues until I got a different exhaust brand and they wanted to know why. |

AA is also an option but it's just lack of valves that is holding me back. The AWE had option of loud and quiet and I feel AA will be mid way between both so you neither get the upside of very loud or very quiet. This is so difficult..... |

I have an AWE resonated exhaust, no fitment issues at all. At first the exhaust was quiet but after break in its gotten a lot louder. The exhaust has two different tones, sport= more raw metallic sound, sport+ = more bassy sound with loud back fires. I have never used the valves in the closed position, they are open all the time. My only complaint is that I lost bottom end grunt all though the top end did improve and pulls hard. The loss of bottom end bothers me sometimes because I spend a lot of time in traffic and see lots of street driving. Either way I always planned on having a few different exhaust set ups with this car, so I will be selling it very soon and picking something else up. One more thing, the finish on this exhaust is excellent.

LOVE my AA exhaust. It has a deep and clean sound. I felt a throttle response / power increase right after installing it. It must be due to the midpipes. I had one passenger before ask me if this was an M6 because he said it sounded like one...
lol! In all honesty, it definitely doesn't sound like an M6, but it sure sounds good. |

At this point and time yes. I had a handful of exhaust on the F80 platform already and AWE does it for me. I want to see another full titanium setup besides ARKA. Think about it thou, the AA exhaust is 4K plus. Turbo upgrades is around that range. Exhaust is for sound at this point, turbos you will see additional power.

I had fitment issue on my AWE resonated catback. one of the brackets that stock valve sits was not welded/aligned properly, so the valve didn't aligned with the valve actuator perfectly. In order to get it installed properly, we had to slightly twisted the opened valve a bit. Little did I know, this little twist caused my stock exhaust valve system failed. At the end, I had to put my stock exhaust back to go through warranty, my dealer replaced both valves and recoded my car, now I am running catless downpipe with stock catback.

I have the AWE non-res and it has performed perfectly. When installed correctly it has no issues. If anything the AA exhaust is harder to install. I know this becuse two shops I went to both said the AA was an installation nightmare - I was actually at one shop while they were installing the AA and wow....its NOT straightforward. So make sure that your installer knows what they are doing. The AA would be nice if you also got the DPs. Don't get me wrong - not saying AA has a bad product, you just need to know what you're looking for in terms of sound. But back to the AWE.....
I've been running my car with the AWE exhaust for 6k miles now and love it. I have the BMS CanFlap module and having control of my valves adds to the awesomeness of my drive every time. It's raw when I want it to be, and silent but strong when the time calls for it (like on cold starts in the morning so my neighbors don't shoot me). Not sure what people mean but losing power down low...I sure don't and am pretty happy with my power band. I drive city streets a lot, so the lower end of the power band is what I am sensitive to. I also have 6MT. So maybe DCT gearing affects this? ![]() If you will be getting the BMS CanFlap module, want adjustability in sound and are ok with the car sounding like a bad-ass banshee on full wail - then the AWE non-res is what I would reccomend. Even pulling out of parking garages and starting with valves open the car sounds like a monster and turns heads (this happens literally everywhere I go). Personally I love that I have choice of what I want the exhaust to sound like. You don't get that with a non-valved system. But hey, maybe you don't need it, I don't know what your preferences are. Installation of this exhaust couldn't be easier. Just a make sure you have a proper shop doing the work. And as someone stated in a previous post - AWE does not have bad customer service AT ALL. If anything they are pretty damn solid when it comes to responding and being available. I highly reccomend them. Feel free to pm me if you have more Q's

I like mine, and it got better with time. The rasp it used to have is gone, and the only thing I can complain about is the valves fit loosely with the motors, so they click when they open/close.

I have 6mt and the loss of power down low with AWE is super noticeable. Pretty much everyone but you even AWE supporters say so. If people not responding to emails and phone calls is good customer service then yes its great . I guess my AWE fitment issues were just my installers fault. Odd he didnt have any problems putting together the super complicated AA ![]() |

Exhaust is awesome. With downpipes, it reminds of a V8 on downshifts.
