Which should I do first?
I have a 2017 BMW M4 competition and have already got a stage 1 tune with 460whp and 700nm, and a carbon fibre CS style spoiler. I was wondering if I should get a stage 2 tune if I was looking for more power and to make it a bit louder? I was also wondering if it will be bad for mileage and if it will damage anything in the engine? The last thing I was wondering is if I should get some aesthetic parts first before adding power?

No disrespect but asking if you should get aesthetic parts before power parts is opinionated. That's something you should decide for yourself and what you want to do.
Your other questions you can easily find answers to by searching the forums. Stage 1 to 2 won't make the car louder. You'll need to modify your exhaust set up for more noise. Fuel consumption is completely based on the way you drive and how heavy your foot is. I can get the same, or sometimes better gas mileage from a tune, but I drive it harder because I want to feel the extra beans. So that's on you too. Last edited by aa2033; 03-14-2023 at 08:21 AM.. |

I recommend you don’t touch the car at all. Not that I care about maintaining its value for resale cause I really don’t, but because it was engineered specifically. When people lower or add power to a car, it compromises what the engineers set out to do in the first place. Unless you aim for a specific purpose, I would leave the car alone. Especially since you are concerned with fuel consumption.

Stage 2 is only 2% more power than Stage 1…
If you like going fast then first make sure you have the wheels/tires to maintain grip and control. Then get a CBC installed so you can tune further. After those two are covered either go for the E30 OTS tune, or a custom E85 tune (I prefer Paul).

E85, usually through F80Paul or Jordan Tunes. There’s a plethora of Info on the topic, I’d add links but I have poor signal. However you should be able to encounter a few topics within the Tuning section. |

The crank bolt capture plate (CBC) physically holds the crank bolt from moving. The plate bolts to the crank hub using the 8 small bolts and the crank bolt sits in a hex hole in the middle. It’s a $125-150 part that takes about 2 hours to have installed.
For a custom tune from Paul just follow the link below. It’s the $799 option at the top of the drop down, and will get you to just under 600WHP. I’ve done 4 tunes with Paul across two F8X and the experience was great every time. https://www.pauljohnsontunes.com/col...ducts/s55-tune

Going from Stage 1 to Stage 2 won't be a big jump. Value for dollar, livening up the sound with an aftermarket midpipe is a hard-to-beat option. Many threads/youtube vids on how the various options sound (single vs equal-length, resonated vs non-resonated, etc) with otherwise stock exhaust path. That would be my vote.

No, you don’t need a gearbox tune for these or any tune.
Paul works inside the BM3 app so your custom tune and revisions just show up in BM3 My Maps. You reply to him by email with the logs of your test runs. He usually sends an update next-day. 👍👍👍
