I don't know why I even bother to plan a route to pick up mine, since this is so sure thing to happen. I'll just stack up the car with pregnancy tests, water bottles, food (not in the cabin of course, I have read the other thread) and maybe bring a phone with me and hire a mechanic to join me. Then again not, I remember someone writing that the air vents and the stereos numbers are not in line, and some 30 year old bloke poking holes in my perfect car will land me with a much longer holiday than first plan was!

I have owned multiple first year cars over the last 10 years. 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004 Volvo V70R, 20007 Acura MDX, 2011 535i. Every single one of these had issues that were rectified as a rolling production change to the next MY. Every. Single. One. So no, first year model runs are still working out the kinks. |

sure it's an existing part, but it's in a new car, with a new engine and computer and tons of new crap telling it stuff. It's like a QB...just cause a QB is good on one team doesn't mean it's a lock to do well on another, there's new components surrounding it. I have no clue what's wrong with this particular diff, nor am i ruling it out to be a isolated issue, i however don't take too much value in that it's the same in the m5 etc.

I am still waiting for the darn Germans to the part to my dealer. There were 0 warning lights and I even check the entire car system and everything was normal. I am hoping to have my car back by end of this week.

OP I hope your M gets fixed and this is the only problem. I'm now sorta recalling hearing a noise with my M4 while I was over in Europe. But I could have been hearing things. I was trying to convince myself these cars are suppose to be less insulated and more raw and the "mechanical" sounds were normal. I put 825 miles on over there,so I would think if there was a problem I would have been more cognizant of it. At least that is what I'm hoping!!!

Not saying the first year car will automatically be bad (my E92 is a first model year, and it's certainly been amazing), but if issues pop up, sometimes it takes weeks/months to fix, not days. On a small scale of things, if we are talking for example the gap/flushness on the trunk since it is a bespoke CF trunk. You can't just change things like that quick if there is a problem. I'm saying this from experience in the industry.

Once re delivered, I have another 400 miles to get use to all sounds before my 1200 service, and if need be, I can mention something then. Any updates on your end?

Definitely pm me once you get it and I can walk you through the sound to see if that is it.. It will happen at low speeds and when turning. So far still waiting for the part arrive from Almania hopefully by end of this week.
