BUT, the manual in the e46 m3 was awesome and so was the one in the 1M. Considering that the new m3 is *supposed* to have a transmission based off the manual in the 1M, that could be a very good sign.
My previous car was a manual 335is, and before that I drove a manual 135i. I have to say that the short throw shifter in the 335is was MUCH better than the normal one. Just sayin', a quick mod will remedy the mediocre shifting in a standard E92.

The manual did have a couple problems upon release but they were not as widespread as some may think.
Haha, not the 2011+ 6spds I've driven. In fact you can even youtube the problems people are/have been having with the getrag transmission in the Mustang. Namely, shifting problems. Even NHTSA opened up an investigation on the MT82. I think they've gotten the bugs worked out but to say that it was better is far from what I've experienced in my friends 2013 Boss 302.

Let's be frank, the reason people will pay that $40k is because the M3/M4 are styled better.

What someone said above about the difference in manual transmissions is dead-on. The Mustang had a MUCH better manual than the BMW. Crisp, clean, short shifts instead of BMW's truck-length shifts. Surely I'm not the only one who thinks BMW manuals have always been terrible- vague, long, and mushy.
Agreed, I was a bit disappointed with E92 M3 manual. It wasn't as precise as I thought it would be and the throws are WAY too long. It was for sure an after-thought transmission that was installed. This time I'm opting for DCT.

Everyone says bmw is luxury ands stuff,i dont agree with that. Yes it might be the best looking but the quality is not good, closing the door window slams every time and the plastic just looks cheap. i currently own f30 335i and i had q50 for a loaner, the interior of q50 is much more luxirous, also my coworker has the new accord and also its much better quality of material in the cabin than my 335i

One of my sons has a 2012 Boss 302 LS that he bought as a track car, and so far he's had the gearbox rebuilt twice by Ford. The good news is that Ford has picked up the tab, no questions asked, but apparently there's no fix/mod to the basic design yet. That means they'll need to pick up the tab at least a couple more times before the warranty runs out.

He's looking at a 1LE Camaro as a possible replacement over time, while the M3 remains as a DD - partly because replacement would be a problem if he wadded it up on track, but also because it is clearly slower, both in a straight line and on a road course. There's also the brake problem, of course, but that's easily remedied through track-only pads and rotors.

That live rear axle (which is gone now) isn't as bad as some say but it still has some very annoying characteristics, chief among them is the huge weight of the rear diff and axle hanging off of the suspension which means that even though the suspension is very soft, it still crashes and makes the body wobble when you hit a bump and hitting a bump mid-corner makes the whole car bounce
Having driven the current Base V6 & V8, I have to agree with this statement. The current one feels like crap.. It just.. so.. lifeless, there's no driving feel at all. Hopefully they fix the handling issues with the new one.

Either way you can't go wrong, especially since this time around I get the impression that BMW has devoted more resources to the MT. I am also going with DCT. I really like the transmission. I guess I am lazy, but it seems forever and a day with a traditional manual. I drive a manual GTI right now (not comparing it to a better manual in other cars, just saying) and it takes forever between shifts. My old DCT E92 M3 just fired off the shifts so fast. My old S4 with DSG in dynamic mode was also very quick. I am biased to DCT and would recommend it to anyone. Just my opinion though.

Of course Mommy and Daddy are helping. What 23-year-old has 50k+ for a downpayment on a franchise, much less can qualify for a small business loan to obtain one (no credit and income history)? Few, or more like none.
