Angry Michelin PSS Out of Production

So those of us who got our F80's and F82's towards their release have had our cars for about a year now (maybe slightly more). It's about time we change our Michelin Super Sports that come with the car (at least the rear ones).

But there's one huge issue.... You're more likely to use your tire sealer kit than find a Michelin Super Sport tire

So, since these tires are more extinct than the dinosaurs themselves, what tires have you guys been using as your replacements until Michelin get's their SH*^T together? Looking for advice on a tire that's comparable on the street moreover than the track.

I've considered the

Continental ExtremeContact DW
Bridgestone RE71
Michelin Pilot Sport 2
Bridgestone S-04

Which would compare the best to the PSS in terms of daily street driving that's mildly aggressive.

I'll sell you my Contisport 5p set when my M3 gets here.

I'm gonna spring for a set of Bridgestone RE71R.

Pretty sure they're permanently out of production, no? At least, that's what was told to me essentially at Discount. Perhaps it's just not in production for a year.. sometimes tire companies will run limited batches and not start up again for a long time.

Take the opportunity to upgrade to some Pilot Sport Cup 2s

I'm thinking that's what I'm going to do after I go through these. I was able to find an extra set of rears about a month ago. Some dealership had them in case of emergency.

HOWEVER...

I don't believe ours are discontinued...? They were definitely out of stock but are coming back soon I believe.

Cool Yep..

Yep, they're out of stock everywhere. When you call tire rack, they say that it's inaccurate and they don't know when they'll get them.

My local tire pros shop even got in contact with the Michelin Office itself and they said they're out of production because they have too many back orders –*at least for this year.

No one has them

If you want to stick with Michelin, this is the best they've got to offer.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ramic%20Brakes

That's the route I was going to go earlier this summer when I replaced my tires. I ended up finding some PSSs, but I was looking forward to the PSC2s as they are much grippier. The tires are the weakest point of the car from the factory IMO so upgrading to the PSC2s is an easy way to make your car handle better and accelerate with less intervention from DSC (or if you're like me and drive without DSC then MORE GRIP haha).

Also, you're in cali like me so you won't have to throw on winters.

By the time the Pilot Sport Cup 2s wear, the PSSs should be back, and at that time you can decide if the difference in handling is worth you spending more money over time.

Hope this helps!!

Ferrari wanted the PSS badly for the 458. I am having a very hard time to actually find comparison tests between the PSS and other tyres so I wonder whether the PSS are actually any better then other performance tyres. This is like the thread about the exhaust sound between the 2015 and the 2016 model.

I wish!!! Those are out too! Tire rack says they'll have them LATER than the PSS....

Wow! Try the forums, people sell their tires from their OEM wheels when they upgrade. I almost bought some that way but then I found my pair of rears.

I've got a set of Bridgestone RE 71 r's in 265 and 285 on the way now. Hopefully get them installed Saturday so I can get some miles on them before the next autocross.

Sheesh. At 4,000 miles already and it's almost time. Need to find an option soon.

UPDATE FOR EVERYBODY! Just got these same tires installed.... right off the bat out of the tire lot, WOW!

They were amazing in every aspect. Compared to the stock PSS, They're quieter, they're smoother, they provide an insane amount of grip (dry weather as of now). The could hands down be the best tires for the 275/35/19 ratio as of now.

AND THEY LOOK GREAT!!!

Here's some photos:
