West Coast: who's on the TORTUGAS?
Finally got an update via a European Delivery Specialist and my car will be on the TORTUGAS. Scheduled to depart Bremerhaven on November 28, arriving at Port Hueneme, CA on December 26th.
Who else is on this ship? Come join the long wait. Not a great name for a speed boat, but I guess it is a sign of a steady and reliable ride. TORTUGAS stats: built by Mitsubishi, capacity for 6350 cars, and 18,000 horse power at 105 rpm Here's what our ship looks like. Come on TORTUGAS, beat the waves and get these cars delivered by XMas day! On this ship so far: - juuni - chuzo - Cameron.mac - tubules - c0deX - Blackhawk878's wife Volvo - M_Dave - tubules - brad-cam

Given the name, I don't think it's in its blood to hurry up... but fingers crossed you get your car here soon. Given that you live in LA, you might get away with just a few days after landing at Hueneme... but I wouldn't hold my breath.

My car took a month between drop-off in Paris to departure from port. I'm not sure if there was a backlog or they screwed something up. A good 3 weeks of wait at the port, I could have lived w/o it!

You'll be lucky to be on the TORTUGAS. I think there was a backlog of cars at the Port due to hurricanes in the past couple of months which delayed some of the shipping. By now it's probably caught up so you might be lucky and have the car out of there by end of month. Check with you CA, again, by now, he can probably tell you which boat it is.

Tortugas is currently in Zeebrugge, Belgium, which is like 350 miles from Bremerhaven.
Will leave Bremerhaven a day late according to original schedule (Nov 29th instead of 28th), but still scheduled for arrival at Port Hueneme on Dec 26th.

Called my CA today and still no word on a vessel, so I'm starting to doubt I'll make it on the Tortugas :/

The TORTUGAS is definitely at port and loading cars. About to leave any time now.
Attached location of the ship on the map and some satellite view of it's location in the port. This place is gigantic.

To get an idea of how many cars get in there.
I surrounded in red a parking lot area of where the car 'might' be parked before boarding. This area represents about 6,000 cars which is how many get on this ship. Crazy. The big red 'T' is where the Tortugas is currently moored. I don't know how many guys they hire to drive these cars in the ship, and how they load all of this in a day. It's pretty intense. Just don't scratch mine!

Checked https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage with my Vin in 'cargo ID' and finally it came up.
Attached how it looks like. I guess if you thought you were on this one but the link above doesn't show your vin, then it's not. Please note that it took about 2 weeks for my car to go from 'booked' to loaded on a ship. Also, my drop off was October 30th in Paris, I know it left Paris on November 5th, so that means there is/was quite a bit of backlog. But I'll ask around as this seems very long.

I just found out this morning that I am on the Tortugas as well!
Placed my order on 9/17 through Escondido dealership because my CA there was the bomb and I had ordered from him before. I knew it would be a longer wait because they are a smaller dealership, but this has been crazy long. Read to drive my car! |
