Competition Package - Yes or No?

I already ordered my M3 2017 without it, but I check the M adjustable dampers. Now I'm wondering if I should not add it to the list.

The seats are different, but their look is similar.....are they so different ? I prefer the 19's wheels from the base model (we don't have 18's in Canada), and I could accommodate the extra power.

Other that that, what are the main difference between comp package and standard ? I'm also afraid of the car's stiffness on our beautiful Canadian road, full of holes.....Since it's my daily driver for all seasons, I don't want to hate the car because it's too stiff on public road. My previous ride was an Audi S4 2014....

Help !!

The ride with the ZCP is just fine. And the consensus is that the car is better hooked up and gets the power down better with the zcp. You can have the 19 inch wheels from the base model with the zcp if you wish. The 20 inch 666 wheels are also now available in black.

The Canadian website is so overdue.....there's a lack of informations about option, the price have been adjusted juste last week for the 2017 model year, and the 2016 model is still listed there....why's that ?

Anyway are you sure about the possibility of having the black 20's ? I've never found any picture of these.....

BTW my M will be Yas Marina Blue.....with orange seats

Absolutely it's a must have. The rims are beautiful, the power and handling are tight and the exhaust is awesome. Do it.

If I were ordering again I would definitely get the competition pack.
Luv the 666s but luv the black 437s too

Just like I should have ordered ZHP E46. When will I ever learn. Wait/give BMW a couple years then take the Z

I didn't order it. I don't track the car. I hated the CP rims. A less than 5% increase in horsepower is negligible. The seats are less comfortable (no lumbar support). Didn't make sense to me

It is totally worth it to me and I am glad I have it. Some love it, some hate it, some think the wheels are ugly others love them. To me it's perfect. Is the ride rough? Yes. But I'm only 46 with a healthy back so the stiff suspension is fine with me, same with the seats. It really comes down to personal preference and if you can afford to check the box....
YMMV.....

But why is it worth it to you?

I drove both back to back and detected no differences

The seats have lumbar support - it is just not adjustable.

That's even worse. I would rather no lumbar support than non-adjustable lumbar support. I was perfectly comfortable in the CP seats (I'm 6'3 195) but I felt like if I gained any weight it would be uncomfortable!

Because I plan on keeping it for a long time and I like the performance packages BMW offers. I attend multiple track days each year and plan on putting this car in the rotation for something different to drive on the track. I don't plan on upgrading suspension, engine, wheels or brakes. Mine has CCB's so nothing to upgrade there. I think the adaptive suspension with the added comp pack bits will be more than enough for what I want. I will add GC camber plates to help with tire wear but that's it for the suspension. Different tires once I destroy these and to get a little more grip from a very stout setup. I wanted something I could just drive to the track and have fun. My other track car is a little more involved when it comes to prep etc.
I also DD this car so that was a consideration. I didnt feel that the "stiffer" suspension would be a deal breaker for a DD and for me I was right.

I think the comp pack gets so much criticism because it's meant to be more track oriented and some people just check the box to say they have it, not to use it. I plan on using it. Figure out what you want out of the car and it may help make your decision easier.

My answer to ZCP, weather it's an F80, E92, E46 etc. is always a YES!

Again... YMMV...

People are going to argue whether or not it's worth it all day. You're spending a lot on this car already. Personally, before I got mine and drove both, I wouldn't buy the car if it didn't have competition package. If you're deciding whether to get it or not, you're already on the path of regretting it if you don't.

There is lumbar support, just not adjustable.

I think the competition package, as always, is a worthy upgrade. But seriously, think about a couple years down the road when your back fat starts hanging out of those sleek cutouts and you grow some back boobs.

Not worth it man. Not worth it.

You don't like the CP seats even though comfortable because you MIGHT gain weight and therefore MIGHT get uncomfortable? I don't get it

lol i said they were fine for me but may be too tight for others. I honestly hated the rims and after driving a CP car and a non-CP car back to back i felt no difference. but again i dont track the car or plan on it. if i was i would definitely have gotten the CP and the DCT transmission. since i dont plan on it the MT and non-CP is good enough for me . again this is my opinion and YMMV

Two options which are a total waste of money include.... the 5k competition pack and the 3-4K exec package.

The 5k competition package includes; heavy ass 20's with not so amazing 285 rear tires, holes in the seats, m stripe on seat belts, extra hp so it's not slower than the regular one.

The overpriced Exec package includes free leather (not bad), backup camera with front and rear sensors, heated steering wheel.

I would just get leather and 19s for sure.
