RKP GTS High Wing Mount Set
BMW's M4 GTS includes an aerodynamics package that reduces lift at high speed, and enables more confident driving on the race track. Unfortunately, because BMW has to appease the general buying public, and must comply with rear visibility guidelines, the rear wing on the GTS quite literally falls short of it's potential by being positioned quite closely to the trunk surface. By being positioned only 6.5" away from the trunk surface, the GTS wing is exposed to dirty, turbulent flow which does not enable the airfoil to operate as efficiently as possible. RKP's high mounts for the GTS wing place the wing much higher relative to the M4's roof, exposing the wing to clean, laminar airflow. In doing so, further performance can be extracted from the GTS wing. The RKP mounts are constructed from billet aluminum, and are designed to minimize weight while being a direct fit to the M4 trunk. The mounts are finished in the same grey as the original GTS mounts for a clean look.

To me the oem mounts looks more stable with its wider and bigger base where it meets the trunk. Also there seems to be a machined groove for a rubber o ring for water proofing.

OEM mounts just looks so much better. Bevels are better and top of RPK has some strange way they cut the holes too close to the top. Agree that bottom should look more substantial as well. I would not get these for my GTS when it comes in.

The RKP mounts are just as stable as the OEM. Not that I recommend it but you could push the car using the mounts alone. The top washers are moved to the inside of the trunk. We have tested the mounts on the iND M4 using all OEM GTS hardware and there is zero water leaks.

I'd have to disagree. The rounded edges on the mounting surface really make it look like the wing would easily bend backwards. The oem mounts have much more marerial on the trailing edge. Combine that with less surface area to spread the load out on the trunk lid and no way to seal it up and you have a part that's sub par compared to oem. I think rkp should go back to the drawing board on this one.

If you were relying on the trunk lid alone to support the brackets, I could see your concern, but all of the support is handled from inside the trunk. For water sealing, item 10 is swapped to the inside of the trunk also. Hope to have mine all set up within a few weeks and will have some more real world feedback. |

Ah ok I see what you're saying. It just seems to me like the high mounts would want to just bend backwards around the rounded edge, especially at a more agressive wing angle. I guess time will tell when people start hitting the track with them. I'd imagine rkp did extensive testing already so hopefully it's not an issue.

LOL. RKP is just a knockoff shop trying to parade around as a high-end brand.

Any risk of the higher wing putting more pressure on the trunk and causing future damage? I assume BMW tested the current setup rigorously before moving to production...

Not 100% the same since the M235iR uses a larger thread pattern.
