Could anyone help me with winter tire sizing on my f80 m3. I have an oppotunity to buy a full set of blizzak tires size 255/40/19 locally and was wondering if they would fit my stock 19 inch wheels? My car is not lowered at the moment. Will the tires be to tall for the car? Will it rub?

A 40 ratio would not keep you at the same profile as the stock spec though. Hence your question. Personally I'd stick with a 35 series tire on a 19" wheel.

$425 for a set is an insane deal though! You could probably buy those and sell for a profit.

Old thread, there are probably different tires available now. I live on an icy camp road. I'm not planning to drive during or right after a storm, but need to be have traction to get up some inclines on an icy road. Anyone know if an all-season tire would do it or do I need to buy dedicated snow tires? Any recommendations for good all-season (if that will be sufficient) or well-priced snow tire if that will be necessary? I've read good things about Blizzaks, but had good luck with Yokohamas in the past and they are cheaper (Iceguard IG52C)

I had Blizzaks on my 5 Series previously and they worked well. You just need set you expectations correctly...they are not performance summer tires. I've heard several people on this forum who have used all season Continental DWS with good success. I would think if you get more than 3-4 inches of snow, all season tires will not perform that well in a rear wheel drive vehicle, assuming you drive with some common sense. I just purchased Michelin Alpine PA4 for my 2018 M3 ZCP. Should have them installed some time this weekend. I think they are better than all season but not quit as good as a full snow tire like the Blizzaks. FWIW, Many guys with a performance car as a daily driver buy them.

I had the Conti Extremecontact DW summer tires on my Audi S5 and they chopped up horribly. Had to throw them away with about 12K miles on them. Soured me to Continental. Maybe I'll look into Alpinas. As I said, I'd like a tire I can use year round if I can get down my road with them in winter. I don't plan to drive it when roads are snowy but my road is a dirt road that gets a layer of snow/ice on it for most of winter and can be quite slick.
