RE-71R Autox F82 2015 M4
Looking to purchase a set of wheels and tires just for auto crossing and trying to get the widest possible in the front and reasonable in the rear for the R71r tires. For tire sizing I see a lot of post talking about 20 in wheels or fitment on a M3 but I need to stay with the 18 and 19in I was looking at the apex wheels under the fitment guide it was showing
Front: 18x10" ET25 with 275/35-18 tires Rear: 18x11" ET44 with 305/35-18 tires The problem I am running into is the R71r in 18in only go up to 285/30r18 https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...Potenza+RE-71R I was looking at the http://velocitymotoring.com site and was thinking about doing Front: 18x10" ET25 with 275/35-18 tires Rear 19x11" not sure of offset with 305/30r19 What are your thoughts and recommendations. Thank you for your time and help Chris |

After doing a bunch of research, I found that most people are going 19x11 et40 for the 305/30 setup. I'm not too sure on 18 in setups. I bought a custom set from BC forged and that's what they recommended too (hasn't came in yet). Ive seen some people mention ET 35 but can be hit or miss. ET 40 should fit flush safely with wider tires like the PS4S and RE71R

I went with a 19x 9.5 et17. 265/35 PS4S. Most guys go ET 20. The 17 offset is what they were recommending. Again I can't comment on fitment. They haven't came in yet. It's been about 3 weeks.

There are more 305 width R-compound tire options in 19"s, so I say skip the 18"s...
Front: 19x9.5 ET20-23 or 19x10 ET22-25 Rear: 19x10.5 ET38-40 or 19x11 ET40-44 If this is mainly for a track setup, I recommend waiting for Apex to release the 19" version of their FL-5 or SM-10 wheels. Otherwise, there are quite a bit of fully forged Signature wheels that can be had for a steal in the new/used marketplace. |

So i am sold on the Idea of 275/35r19 and the 305/30r19. Problem I am having now is finding rims that fit. Another things i am told is having 275/35 in the from and 305/30 I will find traction control having issues since the diameter in the front is taller.

I believe thats why most people are going with the 265/35 front. As far was wheels go, you can always have them custom made. HRE R101 is too rich for me but they are super lightweight and would be great for track work if you can stand putting them through the rigors of autox

I did the 18/19 for the RE71R with 275/35/18 and 305/30/19. If you want to run RE71's that a good choice. You can do 285/35/18 and 305/30/19 in the Hankook r-S4 as well. These are really just for trying to get the most for autocross 200tw selection though.
If you want to get really crazy you can go 305/30/19 square with 19x10.5 ET20" on the front, but this requires some massaging of the plastic liners. And a 275/35/19 with a diameter of 26.5 could be pushing it on rubbing when the wheels are turned due to the diameter. Last edited by bracer; 06-21-2018 at 09:33 AM.. |
