DIY: Install M Performance Electronic Steering Wheel

My car was ordered with the M performance electronic steering wheel. Works flawless and also warrantied by bmw.

It's pretty easy though. I did my about two months ago. The main thing is to make sure you get a good wire connection. DO NOT USE T-TAPS. Use either the BMW mini connectors that come with the kit, solder or anything that can give you a secure connection.

I was mounting this steering wheel yesterday
All working fine and i was connecting all wires at right place
But my shift paddles don't work anymore

What can be the problem?!

I would take steering wheel out again and double check. Make sure you transferred all the wiring and pieces correctly from existing wheel. I had to literally go though the install process twice.

So I attempted to install it, and failed. Took the wheel and my messed-up wiring to EAS, they fixed everything and got it to work for a reasonable price.

I say if you live in SoCsl, it’s a no brainer to go to EAS tom @ eas

I have minor issue
Everything work as it should but if I don't drive the car for few days and it won't turn on. Disconnect the battery and it work again just fine. I did have same issue with my E82 before. It does not bother me much but wonder if anyone seen it before

Hello Guys,

I have an 2014 m4, UK model.

We cannot find pin18 and pin19, alternatively we could find pin 35 however pin 36 want there. any ideas?

Adding few notes and pictures from install I just did:

1- Most importantly you need to make sure you are using the correct instructions. There is one from 2014 (using the connectors under the footwell trim for grounding vs. the one from 2016 using the right door wiring harness for ground wire.

2- I used the one from 01/2016 which refers to right door wiring harness X5*1B (below)
