Same exact thing for me, except 70 miles round trip and 6MT with summer tires. It never gets old.

Correct.

It is drastically up from my old commute of 2.6 miles. Round trip...

My mpg reflects this
And in the winter I have to drive in Efficient/D1 boring mode, since I don’t get any temp

After a spirited drive through any of our socal roads, it's very hard for me to commute just knowing all that precious gas could be used for so much more...does anyone else have that probelm?

You only need to drive 6 miles before launch control is available.

gas (premium), insurance, and depreciation all add up quickly if you dd the car. again its probably not much for most here, but it does add up. I'm a doc and i see a lot of patients who smoke. its only like $3 a day for a pack. Put you add that up over 30-40 years and it comes out to a lot of money.

i just drive my civic to work 40 miles each way. And when i get home I'll either take out my M3 or 458 for 30 minutes to have some fun around town or through the back roads.

i don't get any fun out of sitting on the highway doing legal speeds for 30 minutes straight with traffic all around me.

Same vein here, doc.

When I'm in work mode which includes a lot of driving from meeting to meeting to home to misc errand stops, the last thing on my mind is the drive. It's literally a Grand Theft Auto game defensive driving against all the idiots contributing to the congestion. I get the most out of my M4 when I'm in a free state of mind where the roads are clear and the peasants are still asleep.

I rarely drive mine in the evening. As much as I love Los Angeles, valeting cars is a last resort. Street parking is at a premium and 99% parallel. When I'm out and about in Tinseltown/Koreatown, I'm partying so Lyft is a must.

It does split time with an old Land Cruiser on 35s so that's the true urban jungle bruiser. I am delighted with this double dragon auto combo.

DD'er here with my 16' base M3. On the long distance commute note..... I'm about to embark on what is probably the highest one way commute on this forum. Today I was awarded a position in my state vs flying to New York and I'm planning on doing my 163 mile commute (one way) 2 to possibly 3 times per week. Yup, that's going to be a ton of miles. It will be 99 % highway from the Space Coast to Ft.Lauderdale. I've got a backup 335i to bear the brunt, but my wife drives that so I'll mostly be doing it in the M3. My MO for the commute is:
I bought it to drive it not to hide it.
It's a base M3 non ZCP so nothing really special or rare.
I cannot think of sitting in anything but my M3 for that length of time.
I always have the feeling that the M3 is "an event" every time I drive it.

Mechanically I will be:
5,000 OCI's.
Blackstone analysis every other oil change.
Tire pressures and alignments cared for religiously.
PSS spare secured in the trunk.
A full Ceramic treatment and PPF on the front, side views and rear quarters.
Escort or Valentine 1.
78 mph cruise control on.

Oil weights and brands I'm undecided on.
Current mileage 38,000.
Oh, and it's a 6 speed manual. Not ideal vs DCT for cruising, but 78,79 mph currently yields 2900 rpm. My old e46 330ci did the same so I can live with that.
Any inputs or tips are appreciated.

Weekend, nice weather fun car. My commute is only 5 miles so it's a shame to drive it to work everyday on such short distance.

Daily Driver here, 16 miles one way. Running on Michelin A/S 3+ (all season). car is stock. Currently at 46k miles and close to running out of warranty. Need to figure out whether I should get extended, buy a newer model M4 or just drive it and pay the price...

269k?! Wow! I thought I have the biggest mileage on the forum lol. Mine is also manual and has original clutch.

I've always warmed up my engine and never floor it on cold engine. Also oil change every 5k and always premium gas. Maybe thats why is still okay.

I daily my M3CS 16 miles each way. My previous 2017 ZCP M3 sat in the garage all the time and I decided I wouldn't let the new car go to waste and I am very happy with my decision!

Not sure, people complain about vw reliability a lot. Maybe Just good maintenance and a bit of luck is important.
