Has anyone considered upgrading the retrofit kit but with steel rotors? Just the calipers are not super expensive, It would a relatively cheap way to have a bigger rotors and calipers.

1st post...
I have been driving audis for a while now, but have recently decided that it's time to upgrade to something a bit faster and a lot more RWD. So i'm currently in the midst of trying to find an allocation for a new M3, and work out a deal. I've got my specs down, but i'm still having trouble deciding whether the CCBs are worth the additional $8k upfront. In speaking with the dealer they still claim that they'll last the life of the car, but based on what i've read on this thread and others it seems like i'm not the only one doubting that claim. I love the technology, and the potential for longer life, but the cost of replacing them if that doesn't work out is horrifying. I've seen estimates between $7k -$17k on here. Has anyone actually worn out their CCB rotors on here? and if so what was the cost of replacement? I'm not a track rat, but would like to be able to do 2-3 track days a year with out worrying that each day is costing a few thousand bucks worth of ceramic rotors. Replacing pads at 50% life seems like a good option, if people have had success preserving their rotors with that. |

Interesting that the full retrofit kit is less than the individual rotor replacements by thousand...
