Yikes! How much did that cost? I had a 2007 Z06 with a tune and my engine had a major malfunction and GM promptly voided my power train warranty. Cost me about $12K out of pocket for a used engine off the vette forum. My wife almost left me...

You can either get some of the crank hub shizzles and tune the shit out of it, or keep it stock and enjoy what BMW engineers spent so much money and time on with the bonus of having intact warranty.

The main idea of tuning cars was to get a relatively decent bump in performance at a relatively low cost. Having to do a crank hub fix and then a tune will cost thousands of dollars which kind of defeats the purpose.

Cost aside, M3/M4 owners have to literally have their motors ripped open then put back together. That alone is already a worrying part of the exercise.

You also talk about BMW engineers? That's a fail in my opinion.

That the calipers are blue. I have a blue car with red interior. Calipers would look so much better if they were red. I know...1st world problem for sure.

You're not missing much from not getting it.
Interesting. I was going to make a comment about that being the number one feature I miss on my CS. I have it in my Grand Cherokee daily driver and it also beeps. I of course check my mirrors also when it goes off but you literally do not have to. It works that well in a Jeep Grand Cherokee

Well, I don't buy cars to modify their engines and shit, and the S55 makes more than enough power for me so I am not concerned about SCH problems & I am 6MT.

My Mazda has it in the mirror, top left of driver side...pretty much like any other normal car that was blind spot monitoring.

Its noticeable as it's obviously in view since you're staring at the mirror and there's an audible chime to alert you as well.

In wife's 2019 Audi, it's just a yellow light tucked to the inside of the mirror casing..lights up when there's a car in your blindspot and just flashes if you signal on that side. No chime. It's pretty unnoticeable in broad daylight as it's not in the mirror and can be useless if sunny outside.

The BMW is even worse in regards to the icon since it's a much smaller icon.

I imagine these two brands did this to distinguish itself from the "pleb/everyday" vehicle and make it seem more luxurious. Moronic to say the least.

Agreed - this is my only real gripe (no big deal really, just results in a waste of an M button)

Also, the stock tyres (in the UK at least) are crap in cold and wet conditions, which make it difficult to use all the power in lower gears in these conditions

I *thought* I would miss the backup camera but over time I could care less; I've just gotten good again at using my mirrors and I can back in to a spot with the best of them.

I DO wish I would have gotten the MY2018 base LED lights, but that can be fixed with $ in the future.

When buying used, you end up having to make some kind of compromise somewhere, and I chose one that I knew I could change versus something I couldn't.

Not having the rear window sunshade, despite having the two rear side sunshades as an option...thinking of a retrofit.

Biggest regret: anything Alcantara
Alcantara sucks. Dust and dirt magnet. Also looks like crap after some time and a PITA to maintain.

1 - The Leather in the seats is too fragile. I have a Nutmet Merino interior, so its worse than black interior...
2 - DDC default combination of Efficient/Sport/Sport...i don't get it...
3- It's not easy to work in the engine without getting a thousand bars and strut braces and plastic parts out, etc etc, just, for example, changing the spark plugs.
4 - It's not easy to do small delicate maneuverings with the car due to dct and high power/torque :P
5 - Crank hub issue. Even if my car is ok...the existent problems in other cars make me don't drive mine has it should

I've notice driving in sport plus the pedal is too harsh driving in traffic, bumper to bumper. There's like whip lash. I would hit the Eco mode however.

I figured maybe 6MT with no backup cameras or other options will improve the "raw feeling" a bit and be in more demand lol. Who wants a vintage backup camera, think about 30 years in the future.

How does having a backup camera make an M3/M4 have any less of a "raw feeling". It's a freaking camera, doesn't affect the performance in any way, shape or form. How often do you need that "raw feeling" when you're backing up? And besides, they're required in all cars by law since May 2018.

As for 30 years in the future, I'd hazard a rough guess that less than 1% of current M3/M4 owners will still own their car 30 years in the future.

Unless you were being completely sarcastic, in that case...never mind.

What I hate would have to be the way the car sounds during the cold start period ( especially if you have a exhaust ) & I hate how a 335, 340i etc. has the same front calipers as a M car if you have the standard steel brakes. other than that i love it.
