If I could run cup tires all year and not have to deal with rain and cold temps that would be a beautiful thing but not worth the risk :-) I agree Alex @ alpine does great work he does all of my cars.

Nothing wrong with doing stage 1. Not everyone wants or needs downpipes. Besides the majority of the gains are stage 1 anyways.

Only a marginal increase from 1 to 2.

Update: got the carbahn tune. Good power increase but totally manageable even on winter tires. Regular traction control cuts in if you hammer it at 4k rpm but MDM handles it beautifully. Pretty happy and worth the money.

Consider:
- The F80/F82 is all about throttle control. Consider improving your driving skill, by attending a good car control school. Sport plus is hardest to control, use Sport or efficient.
- Better tires such as Bridgestone RE 71R
- the Thor handling app works well and easy to install.

I run Bootmod stage 2 with 20% reduced torque in all gears, stock downpipes. Works perfect and gives the car a more n/a feel, just like a sports coupé should have in my opinion. Torque is too high with stage 2 to make the car fast and easy to control on street and track with manual gearbox especially, if you're not only going in a straight line, which the cars aren't designed for in the first place.

The F8x has the worst "from stop" power delivery of all the BMWs I've owned. I had a turbo E36 M3 and Harrop SC E92 M3 and both could be floored from a stop without losing traction completely. The F8x, over 75% throttle and traction control kicks in. In the rain? Forget about it, I was breaking traction at 25% throttle.

Haven't tuned the CS and don't plan to but OP I'd say the F8x will become a 70+mph car with a tune.

So those with tunes, did it turn your car into a >70mph only car? Or will a new set of Michelins + tune have the power get to the ground?
the traction issue on this platform are a very serious concern. It really hurts the experience.

In my experience, traction control kicking in has very little to do with actually losing traction from a stop. This includes MDM.

Can you explain in which way it has little to do with loosing traction?

I've had traction control pull power when there's very little to no wheelspin from a stoplight when not driving aggressively. Traction control kicking in does not necessarily mean there are traction issues.

Have never floored my car in second or first gear, at 50% you will have the tail come out. 3rd gear 60mph pull is only i have done.

I am stage 2 93 octane

This is my experience as well, with the rear end and tail getting sideways.

Except, I have attempted WOT in 1st and 2nd, both will easily roast the stock Super Sport tyres. 3rd gear can make the rear step out as well. A tuned S55 makes quite of bit of mid-range torque.

No issues in summer with WOT in 2nd, small amount of slip with DSC full off but pretty much grips and goes - Stage 1 BM3, 285 Michelin PS4S.

When i initially set the tune i was on the contis extreme summers, around 14 degrees celcius where im from in canada or 57 for you muricans.

I was doing 81mph, around 130km/h dropped to 3rd gear around 6k rpm, pinned it, before my foot even hit the floor the back end came out around, scary moment luckily no cars beside me, partially i was prepared, new tune, cold weather etc, it was an open stretch.

Btw TC was fully off as it always is, so ya if you are tuned be careful we are talking going sideways at 80mph

Also to all you guys who love going fast in straight lines, try putting your suspension in comfort for maximum traction, in sport plus its too stiff you will incinerate the rubber

Very true. That's how I get my 295s to stick.

How do you like the JB4 boost by gear over the torque reduction by gear feature on bm3?

Hard to believe in 2020 many people are still not utilizing boost by gear or torque reduction by gear.

Stage 1 bm3 (20% reduction in boost in 1st and 10% in 2nd) + PS4S + GTS GHAS = no slip at all best driving experience over stock. I have yet to lose traction once.
