Yep, I saw the FedEx email! Got excited and immediately called my local exhaust shop to get it on Monday.

I’m gonna take a ton of videos for everyone, especially since my setup will be stock non-comp muffler (with black AA tips), non-res EL midpipe and stock downpipes, which I presume will be a pretty common setup.

Thanks the all the help!

Because all I can tell you is that the AA EL mid has slightly less resonance than the AA single mid, but it's really the tone (pitch and timbre) that has changed from the classic S55 to a higher pitched more harmonious sound that recalls a racey, high-revving inline 6...which it is! My friend who is familiar with my setup described the new midpipe as sophisticated sounding and almost Porsche-like.

Valve open idle still sounds rumbly and deep and reminds me of a marine V8 idle.
Traditionally, rasp is a harsh or tinny/metallic sound. The e46 m3 is an example of a really raspy inline 6 engine, and the N55 is an example of a non-raspy inline 6.

The rasp on the S55 isn’t even that bad compared to really raspy engines. It’s the truck-like sound from the unequal downpipes that make it sound so bad. Previous solutions like the single midpipe just make it a lot deeper and remove any rasp that was there as a cover up, but EL exhausts make it sound like a totally different engine. But it can still be raspy/tinny sounding with the wrong EL setup.

Just got my EL midpipe on. The setup in this video is:

-AA Equal Length Non-Resonated Midpipe
-Stock Non-Competition Muffler
-Stock Downpipes
-Active Sound turned OFF
-Valves unplugged

There are 4 short clips:
1. Standing free revs
2. Windows down full throttle
3. Windows down decelerating downshifts
4. Windows up full throttle

i tried it with REMUS axle-back, since I have high flow downpipes the sound was too much for my taste so i switched to resonated mids instead.

In my opinion, non res equal length midpipe sound perfect with the stock downpipes

After selling our M2 comp we are now back in a M3 and looking at the new offering for exhaust is nice to see. Had the AA single mid pipe as well as with and with out resonated dp's, i kind of like the sound. Interested in a few of thees new equal length mid pipes though just saw this video and like it the most since it hide a lot of the heavy rasp and farting i dislike when you let off the gas/mixed with shifting time.

Sad to say the best sound comes from no muffler and single piped exhaust.

Doesn't look cheap though. https://www.grail-automotive.de/grai...4-f80-18?c=130

Why are you posting this exhaust? It's not an EL exhaust. I don't know what it is

My bad, thought this thread was discussing options for changing exhaust sounds including equal length etc..

I just got my AA EL nonresonated mid pipe installed I love the sound but it’s too quiet wondering what the non resonated version would sound like even thought AA doesn’t recommend. Also can’t hear my turbos spool which is another fat minus for me.. below I posted the videos before and after.. My car has catless DP and stock zcp rear..

The first video is the old single mid pipe

The second video is the EL mid pipe

The thing about these exhausts is that video just cant pick up the tones you really want to hear.

If you hear these in person, it's a game changer for this car 100%. Sounds deep and amazing. Night and day difference between my current vrsf dp, AA mid, remus axle combo.

I agree they sound really good just not as loud and also can't hear the turbos spoiling as I did before with the single mid

It does sound good not complaining about that just not as loud as the single mid pipe was it's quieter.

I might be at odds with others here but to capture an exhaust note in a video I think it has to be done with a drive by. Not sitting in the parking lot revving. I want to hear the exhausting approaching me, driving past me and what it sounds like driving away to truly appreciate the sound. Ideally at the 3K-5K rpm range.

100%, all these pointless driveway revving videos are completely useless.

So is it was a perfect fit with the AA mid and Remus of did you have to modify?
