Which would you rather (choice between M4's)
Hey everyone
I've got a couple of ZCP's on my shortlist and hoping to pull the trigger either by the end of the month or early Dec for a nice Xmas present, and I can't decide between 2 in particular. These two cars are priced the same. These cars are sold at non-BMW dealerships. Car 1: 2017 LCI model. Mineral Grey, black interior. Big selling point is the MPE exhaust, and the Ferric Grey 666M wheels. Has the full carbon fibre pack including interior, and has the M-performance steering wheel. Mileage - approx 10,000kms or 6200 miles Car 2: 2018 LCI model. Black Sapphire colour with silver 666M wheels. Big selling point is the red leather interior, and CS front splitter installed. Being a 2018 model it would have a bit more warranty leftover. Mileage - approx 6,600kms or 4000 miles WWYD? Last edited by amberzombie; 11-12-2020 at 05:49 PM.. Reason: Updated details for both cars |

It might help to include more details about the cars. M cars can be equipped with many different options - carbon roof, DCT/6mt, full leather. Also clean Carfax, service history is car 2 from a BMW dealer?
Depending on the options, I would take the 18' with LCI updates.

Assuming all else is equal (per Adcampo)...
My personal preference is the understated Grey+Black. Having MPE is great. I would only get a black car if it's going to be garaged. If it's parked outside (even in a carport) there's too much constant cleaning involved (at least for my OCD-ness).

I will never own another black car: I'm too anal for my level of laziness to maintain it!
Plus the MPE is a must have on the F8X imho.

I have an MPE...i also have a CS lip (I have a CS)...go MPE.
Also, my father always said avoid black cars. The last ride we ever take is in a black car, don't rush it.

The black is a slight sticking point. I came from a white 2015 M4 and that was heaps easier to clean. Thanks everyone I think I'm leaning towards Car 1. |

option 2
the 2017 car does not have the icon LED headlights correct ? i'm not sure if aus model years are different from the US. if the 2017 does have the headlights, and you really really like the 666M wheels then go option 1. otherwise option 2 and do a ceramic coating.

2017 with 6,000 miles on a used car lot
2018 with 4,000 miles on a used car lot Pass on both... Makes me think they are wreck rebuild or they would be back at the BMW dealers |

If they're the same price the 18 will have better resale. More than make up for the exhaust.
At the end of the day one moves you. For me, car buying/ownership is how it makes me feel when I look at it, get in it and drive it. Like your favorite suit. Just a lot more expensive.
