Weird thread, but I'll bite. It will absolutely be worth more than any other M3/4 iteration other than the GTS. It's objectively "better" and more rare than any other version, so the only question is how much the premium will be. 1% 10% 20? Only time will tell.
*For context, I've owned a F80 MT, F80 with comp and MT and now a CS |

If 15-20 years from now I'm looking to get into an F8X again for ol times sake, for sure I'd whittle it down to an M4 CS or nothing. I want all the factory trimmings like the OLEDs, door cards, magnesium sump, CS dct/ediff/engine mapping etc. I mind the details and would certainly value it more than other models.
Having owned an E46 M3 since new, I never enjoyed the BMW manual shift feel even with the UUC DSSR. F8X is no better. In fact it's worse being physically bigger, markedly heavier, and mated to the same subpar trademark BMW rubbery action. IMHO, the M4 CS is the ultimate expression of the F8X generation and the best looking M of all time. Pig grill or no pig grill, if the G8X was lighter, incrementally improved the DCT and was dimensionally no bigger than the F8X, I'd be singing a different tune.

the whole "save the manuals" thing has become cringe to me... like some justification of spending too much on a car or "im better than you".. its just overdone now.
You want to drive a stick? go for it, its your car. You want a DCT? be my guest. Having said all that, its too early to tell how the CS will fair with depreciation. So far its followed the typical 30% drop after new to used that all bmw's do. Time will tell.

This post is ridiculous.... The limited production of the CS cars will help maintain value as there will always be a market for people who don't just want a run of the mill Competition Package. I find that those who don't have a CS, pretty much bash it. Sure, us owners may be a bit biased with our opinion of the future value, but keep in mind that a lot of us got huge discounts on the car, and are already in the money when it comes to equity in the car.
At the end of the day, nobody knows how the value will hold. Guess we'll wait and see! |

As evidenced with the E46 its not a manual vs SMG, they both are holding values well. As for individual paint, these are not Porsche PTS with buyers hoping to out do one another with a more "exclusive" build. I dont see individual colours commanding much of a premium.

The Heritage Edition is indeed a sweet car, but all it really is is an individual color with a custom interior color. The fact that they didn't come with HUD and a couple other things, I honestly doubt It'll hold value that much better than a regular Competition Model..... We all have our opinions though, and only the future will determine who's right..... |

G80 with the S58 motor is basically an upgraded version of the S55 without the crank hub issue, more power, and an option for AWD.

I still wouldn't get a G80 but the G80 is faster, better engine, better tech, and a more advanced chassis. The only thing lacking is cosmetics. I'm sure there will be an aftermarket bumper/grilles.

This. Utilizing power to compensate for weight is only applicable in a single scenario. Compensating for that additional weight when inertia applied, suddenly you’ve many needs to compensate for. Transmission, diff, brakes and the list goes on. To my knowledge BMW isn’t the king of the drag strip and I wouldn’t purchase mine to be. The lighter, the better. Period.

You are giving the F80 DCT too much credit. If you own one, you'll know that it is jerky and constantly get the kangaroo. I'm not the only one complaining about that. My friend with an F90 M5 actually prefers the ZF8 over his F80 DCT.
