My first tune was with Alpine MSS back in 2017. I had always used a local tuner before that (used the same one for years on all my previous cars), and would again, if I wanted a “permanent” map. But I like to be able to change maps & have the ability to change other parameters & reset adaptations whenever I want. So I’ve been with BM3 for over 4 years. Great, easy to use platform, with decent tried & tested maps. With what you get for your money, it’s pretty untouchable imo.

I’m not going to get into BM3 with you, ETTO on that. You can get individual tuning on it by the way, logging & all. Litchfield are a proper outfit & I would certainly consider using them if local. BW Chiptune, wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

Litchfield use Ecutek which not only gives you a remap, but the ability to have different maps easily switchable via the steering wheel controls.. so you can one map for 95ron, or another one for cold/wet days where you need the torque/power turned down (or even a valet mode, if the car goes for a service). They've done numerous S55 remaps and have a good database of maps now.
Used them for the last 10yrs on other cars without issue, will get mine done in a few months once I've done the crankhub fix (as a precaution).

Another upvote for BootMod3, their flexfuel map offers the ability to vary map from 95 to 98 RON maps as well as CS map. Can also modify maps yourself with likes of torque reduction to produce a smoother torque curve.

I hear and read so much about capture plate suiting a stage 1 and then others saying it’s a waste of money and get full crank hub fix So it’s hard to know. Ball park does a Bootmod bring a 2018 F82 comp from 450bhp to circa 520bhp? Or forgetting figures for a moment, is the power gain really noticeable on the road? Thanks. |

If using 98RON fuel stage 1 Bootmod3 will be around 520bhp, but given only 95RON is available in ROI 500bhp will be more achievable and safer.
Wouldn't worry too much about the whole crank hub issue, just enjoy the car, though I do have a capture plate, if it does spin I'll upgrade to full fix then. And yes the difference between standard comp and stage 1 is noticible. On bootmod3 there are a few free maps like GTS which bumps power to 480ish bhp, which I actually prefer especially for track use. |

I’ve tried an additive from Murray Motorsport that should bring the 95 pump petrol to 98 and it does seem to give better throttle response There is a tuner in Liverpool that will do the insane 4 pin crank hub for £2k so was thinking of that and then want possible tunes could follow What’s the max bhp with stock turbos and Bootmod? Would 550bhp be possible? |

I’ve been running stage 2 for 5 years. Never bothered with a CH mod. I firmly believe it was always well over exaggerated with a lot of scaremongering.

So you’ve had circa 550bhp from stage 2 and it’s on a completely stock crank hub? |

Interested to see how it goes for you - that seems like a good price. I’m going to keep mine for a few years now and it’s stage 2 already so fancy the piece of mind. Let us know how the install goes?

£2000 for an insane crank hub install is so worth it even just for the piece of mind. Everytime I pin it or downshifting when hard on the brakes and need a little engine braking I won’t have to even think anout a slip |

I did. And I am over the moon!
Dave literally knows everything and is very down to earth. I got the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. 1hr 50 mins from Holyhead to his place in Liverpool. Collected it by the end of the following day and he had done Insane hub Vrsf downpipes. Vrsf charge pipes Exhaust cam re alignment(as I think I had the cold rattle) Ngk plugs Bootmad stage 2 It’s a whole new level and the best part is in M1 efficiency mode it’s completely as before But Jesus when you open the valve The overrun is like a machine gun Power and torque is significantly more everywhere. I got from Calais to Stuttgart in 5 hrs 40 mins It’s epic on shell v power or 99ron fuel in Germany I hit 293km/h 183mph easily. I can’t rate Dave high enough. You have to get a stage 2 from him I’m planning to keep my F82 for at least another two years now. |

Seems
Popular but what impressed me about DRW in Livepool was how when I rang up enquiring about a capture plate and stage 1 he advised me not to waste my money and the £2k cost for insane crank hub is great value when you consider the €350 I would have spent anyway with BMW for oil service is sunk. Furthermore he changed the plugs as all the braces were off and only charged the cost of the NGK plugs. So £90 plays €700 from BMW! I can’t rate him high enough. Car is so good now. Gonna keep it hopefully for forever! |
