Downpipe heat shield rattle

In my effort to chase down things that rattle, I found that the heat shield at the bottom of one of the downpipes is pretty loose. I'm getting a low RPM rattle, mostly right after startup that sounds like it's coming from this area. Is there anything I can do secure the shield? How necessary is it, is removal an option?
