DE-Tuning BM3 Stage 2
I've been looking for a BSM F80 M3 6MT. Found one in my area but its tuned up significantly (list below).
With the parts list this car has, how feasible is it to de-tune it to a more manageable power level for comfortable daily driving and daily winter driving? With the DP, cats and intakes I'm guessing de-tuning will affect the air/fuel mix, causing issues. Wondering what you guys think. I dont think it will be an issue. It should be within range for the computer to adjust fuel unless fuel injectors were changed. Also why are you scared of the power? You just need to drive accordingly. You can also use efficient mode and it will dull the throttle and power delivery.
How you treat the gas pedal determines how much power you want... You want to roll into the power and not stab at the gas pedal. You dont need to go full 100% throttle if you dont want to. After some time you will get used to the car and it will be more manageable. |

You could run Comp, CS, GTS or a stage 1 tune without issue. As for the winter, invest in a winter wheel-tire set and you’ll be amazed at how well the F8x can handle winter cold, rain, and snow. I’ve had zero issues driving e46 m3, e92 m3 and f82 m4 in winter weather. My wife’s had zero trouble driving her e92 m3 in winter conditions as well.
