Cold air intake…not really?
Just installed an air intake system on the M4. Bought a cheap one since I really only wanted to hear the turbos better.
It certainly does that but.. Seems to be the opposite of “cold air” since it pulls air from inside the engine compartment. I noticed that the stock units are sealed using the air inlet in the box as the soul source of air. The new filters are of course in the heat shield box pulling air from them, but are open so engine air as well. Am I missing something here? Last edited by cormy; 05-04-2024 at 09:23 PM.. |

From the little bit of research I did, I wanted more performance and no loss so I just opted for the BMC filters that kept stock box and charcoal removal. Once I get a better job or raise, I really want to get eventuri v2 intake for the looks and sound.
But yea like the guy above stated it is usually for just looks and sound. |

If you are concerned about the temps, you should have gotten a closed air intake or high flow filters. You did not need to buy it and install it to conclude that an open intake will take in hotter air
