18x9.5 265/35 Front - Swift Springs

Just curious to see if anyone is running APEX 18x9.5 ET22 in front on Swift springs?

I’m currently on 20x9 +20 and 265/30 and no issues at all. The 18x9.5 +22 with 275/35 say it will poke a few mm further but the tire is much more squared than my slightly stretched 265/30 on 20x9 current setup.. I see a lot of people running 18x10 +25 setup and 18x9.5 +20 is exactly the same distance to fender. So I feel like it will work. Just want to confirm.

before I pull trigger on my front wheel setup I was curious if anyone had 18x9.5 275/35 on Swift springs ?

On tire rack, a 266/35-18 tire mounted on a 9.5” wheel has a tread width of 10.7”. The rule of thumb is section width changes by 0.2” for a 0.5” wheel width change. So a 265/35 that has a 10.7” section width on a 9.5” wheel will have a 10.5” section width on a 9” wide tire.

275/35-18 tire mounted on a 9.5” wheel has a section width of 10.9”. So there’s a 0.4” increase in tire section width between your old and new tire setups.

A 9.0et20 has a back spacing of 5.29”. A 9” wide wheel outer width is 10.0” so a 265/35 will overhang 0.25”. Total back spacing with tire is 5.54”.

A 9.5et22 has a back spacing of 5.62”. A 9.5” wheel outer width is 10.5” so a 275/35 will overhang the wheel by 0.2”. Total back spacing with tire is 5.82”.

So the delta back spacing is +0.28”. I believe the widest track setup with stock springs is 285/30-18 on a 10et20 wheel. The tire has a section width of 11.4” and the wheel backspacing is 5.79”. Wheel outer width is 11” so the tire overhangs by 0.2”. Total backspacing with tire is 5.99”. Also, this has a smaller diameter so the max backspacing will sit lower than your 275/35.

The difference between the front track setup and your new front setup in backspacing is 0.17” (your setup is less aggressive) - a little less than 3/16”. There’s a good chance it’ll fit but I can’t guarantee it because I don’t know the shape of the Swift and stock springs and where your closest approach is.

I don’t know how close the 285 track setup gets to the stock spring/spring perch. Are you able to take a picture of your current clearance?

I have plenty of space on the back side. I’m more worried about the fender. The 20x9 +20 on 265/30 is really close to fender. So 18x9.5 +25 275/35 is gonna be closer to fender I feel like. Judging by wheel/tire calculations = it’ll only stick out 1.3mm more

2.4 mm (0.094) is not going to be an issue. I run a street setup with 265/35-19 on 19x9.5et22 and I have more than a 0.197” (5 mm delta going from a 265 to a 275) front outer clearance.
