Oil Additive

Searched and didn’t find what I was looking for.

Curious if anyone has done a qt of oil additive such as Lucas Oil in place of adding the last quart? Thought about supplementing a quart of my Motul for an additive to help prevent wear. Car only has 27,344 miles so not sure it really matters. I use the Lucas Oil in place of the 6th quart in my Ford Raptor and it does help the eco slut run better in my opinion.

Anyhow…thoughts?

Never add oil Additives, it’s all just a gimmick and a waste of money, you end up diluting or hurting your original oil additive package and composition.

You could do oil samples with Blackstone labs and see what comes from it. Even do it on your raptor

I plan on doing that this fall when I stop driving the M3. Gonna do it to all 3 of my cars. Want to see what a sample looks like after driving in South Ga humidity and heat. Thank you!

I bought some, but it says on the bottle do not use with Automatic transmissions. So I never used it.

Just use a stout LL-01 oil such as Castrol 0W-30. This is probably the best LL-01 oil you can buy at the moment with an extremely high % of PAO.

Oil additives will compete with existing anti-wear additives in the oil and cause worse performance compared to just using a good oil by itself.

I appreciate the input. I really like the Motul oil I use. I might give the Castros whirl next oil change. Thank you.

Might be worth a shot, especially with relatively low mileage on your car.

I don’t think I am going to use an additive. The humidity in South Ga is retarded, last thing I need is my oil fighting each other.

No additive is needed granted you are running a good oil with proper oil change intervals.

That being said I use MolySlip additive once a year. I’ve used it on all my M cars over the years, and when I changed the rod bearings on one of my E92 M3s (heavily tracked) around 60k miles, they had absolutely no wear which I attribute partially to MolySlip.
