Can I remove this piece

Is it ok to remove this Plastic piece off of the front swift lowering spring it because I’m chasing an annoying little squeak that occasionally happens over sharp small bumps and I think it might be rubbing that plastic piece. Has anyone remove this plastic off of their swift lowering spring?

You can but then the coils that are designed to bind together will be hitting metal on metal which may result in a new, worse noise. Other companies design coils to bind without plastic coil sleeves so perhaps you’ll get lucky and not produce a new noise.
