Just jumped on the bandwagon with stage 2. I have to say the install was so seamless. Nice job PTF! Now to decide if I pull the JB4 out to go up for sale.

Edit: if I had the GTS trans flash prior to flashing BM3, then do I need to re-apply it?

I kept my JB4 hooked up in map 0, for the extra gauges it provides, which are useful if you track your car (separate water and oil temp gauges, especially)

Good answer. Yes, my car is primarily a track car. I guess it's also handy to read out any codes (I don't currently have the Wi-Fi ODB2 agent).

Code reading/deleting is also useful, yes. I have an old Note4 that I have permanently mounted and connected in my M4 whose only purpose is the JB4 screen.

Free maps are just that..free. You also get one map of your liking that you can configure the way you like in regards to burbles, boost by gear, exhaust flaps (open, closed and oem), cold start delete, etc. Pick one map based on your mods. If you're stock select stage 1 and your octane. Configure as you like.

I purchased the bootmod3 for three reasons. Cold start delete, slight tune for power, and to control the exhaust flap settings. Cold start delete was easy. OTS GTS map is plenty of added power. I can only change the MAPS for the muffler in the stock tune. The free OTS maps must be locked.

Which tuner must I pay extra to get the a tune that allows for me to adjust the exhaust? I wanted to move the muffler Sport+ exhaust map over to the other settings, Adjust the start up roar sound length, and control the muffler flap open percentages for when the car goes CAT delete.

This is the Off The Shelf (OTS) GTS tune that does not have the Map Editor option. The other free MAPS with the BMW purchase also don't allow Map Edit

OEM Stock Tune that has MAP Edit.
You cannot map edit the OTS tunes, only your stock tune

To go back to stock with DCT and DME tune, do you have to first reflash the GTS transmission and then lock the DME or does the DME lock do the transmission automatically? Is there some other order it needs to be performed?

Thats a bummer. Not everyone wants stage 1 or 2 power levels. But they all want to play with the exhaust.

You can import the say the GTS map into your stock one and then play with exhaust flaps and other things. I haven’t done much other than some basic changes to it as I learn more and test more with the car.

I don't see any "import" or "save as" when I open the GTS OTS map. Are you talking about importing the GTS map file and labeling it as stock- because that only works if you get a tuner to send you the file.

I probably would had chosen a different tuning platform if I had known I couldn't use MAP editor to adjust basic settings. Exhaust map, throttle map.

I'd like to copy the Comfort throttle map and paste it over to the Sport map. Then copy sport map and paste it over to the Sport +. I'll never be on a race track to need Sport + throttle map. But I would like to occasionally use Sport + in M2 for its other benefits.

You go to stock tune and go into editor and save as another map. Then open it and import any of the free ones into it and play from there. Doing this let me see what BMW did and I just went from there on my own its not hard at all especially those flaps tables. Anyone with bm3 can do this you don’t need a tuner.

You can customize your sport setting to only engage sport suspension and leave the throttle as comfort. This is a feature of the car regardless of tune.

On protuningfreaks.com I couldn‘t find any dealers for germany. But there are some dealers in germany offering bootmod3. Is it safe to buy from them or what is the best way of getting it? Is the software linked to a VIN / car or can it be used with different ones?

Purchase online from PTF directly and flash yourself. Yes it is linked to your vin.

As a lease, does it really "matter?" Legitimate question, as I have no idea what recourse the dealer would have. I see it in the same boat as the people heavily modifying their cars and returning them back to stock.

Right that's what I'm thinking, but not sure...

Anyone else having a seatbelt warning go off while driving, even though you're buckled in? Online recoding isn't fixing it.

I flashed last night and no issues. I say it could be your seatbelt or something about it.

Thanks.

I would just need to click on each map that is different and commit the changes. Then the GTS map would be saved as a MAP that I could change settings on.
