Wow so nice, but I think they forgot to mention how much helium it takes to keep the car light.

Am I the only one that noticed the alcantara seats with the fabric door cards? I am not complaining, I am excited about fabric interiors.

I wasn't excited for the new m3/m4 at all. I was expecting an overweight fat luxury vehicle with a moderately tuned n54... but now that I see the specs.... holy crap... It weighs less than a 135i!! Along with 400+HP, untuned?! Imagine this beast with a tune and FBO. I'm really hoping that this isn't maxed out already on everything. But even if it is, I won't mind..

"[C]orralled within the aluminum hood and front fenders lies an all-new, 3027cc twin-turbo inline-six that BMW promises will provide the instantaneous throttle response, linear power delivery, and stirring engine note of a high-revving naturally aspirated engine, and the stout, broad-as-Ayers-Rock torque curve of a turbo. And yes, it's an all-new engine, with an 89.6mm bore and 80.0mm stroke (the 335i measures 84.0 x 89.6, for 2979cc) that we're told will produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 430 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. That's 25 percent more torque with a claimed 25 percent less fuel consumption. A choice of six-speed manual (with automatic rev-matching in Sport, but not Sport Plus mode) or seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (using the M5/M6's taller gearing) will route all that furious twist to the rear wheels." ...but also - as feared - the M3 and M4 got the "Active Sound Design" feature too (http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=588968 - http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=680384 [M5]| http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786318 [M135i]): "As does the M5, the M3 complements the soundtrack by using stereo speakers to amplify the engine’s natural frequencies"

Personally think to 60 will be tough to break 3.7s due to tire size/grip vs low end torque, but 12 flat in 1/4-mile seems about right. Will be interesting when some of the guys run the CarTest software info using some gear ratio assumptions.

Thanks, I was hoping for an all new engine, but the N55 will do

What is meant by "indirect intercooler"? It appears the intercooler is tucked in the engine bay near (or on top of) the engine cover/intake manifold. On the surface, it's hard to imagine a worse place for an intercooler than inside a hot engine bay, as compared to, for example, one of the front grilles (typically the lower most center grille).
Anyone have any more information on the intercooling? Without effective intercooling, this thing would heat soak like a mofo. |

I just sold a E92 m3 and eventually settled on the P85 Tesla...but man, I'm thinking of going back as I miss the shifting and exhaust music. Can't wait to test drive this bad boy.

About the weight quote.
The quoted 3300 lbs is with a 90 per cent full tank of gas, but no driver.

The specs are welcome. to the Garching chaps; looking forward to track test results/reports.
So on the scales that will make it ~250 lbs lighter than an MT equipped E92 with a CF roof? Not bad. Not bad at all.

You do realize I was referring to the standard curb weight measurement - you know the one BMW uses on their web site for all their cars. |
