Some sort of voluntary embargo going on releasing the information before tomorrow? I'd hate to side step my favorite forum but if the german forums will have the information in about 4 hours I might just stay up and hunt.

Well, I will say I am keenly interested in the coming news.
Maybe I won't have to buck up for a GT3. The M4 would certainly be a better DD car than the Porsche. |

Low weight and a bit more power gives you both better acceleration and "for free" better handling and braking! I'd rather have "just" 15 more hp but a weight of 3200lbs than 460hp and 3700lbs! Many here seem to want a muscle car and doesn't care about weight (or just assumes it will weigh around what the E9x does). |

With ~430 claimed hp and ~450 actual should mean around 390 ft lb torque actual. With a weight of ~3550 lb (i.e. ~3400 lb no driver, which still seems a bit optimistic), this car will be absolutely neck and neck with the Porsche Carrera S (current 991 model) in a straght line, 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. This claim of course assumes M-DCT... Perhaps a bit slower around the track though but close. Certainly a drivers race.
This is absolutely a consistent "target" as some may recall that BMW, right around the time some significant information became available for the E92 M3, made a direct comparison to the base 911. I will post a more detailed simulation tomorrow once we have the weight. Unfortunately, some speculation concerning underrating will continue to cast some doubts about the actual hp. The weight numbers could continue to be not 100% transparent as well... I guess I actually expect that.

I'm super excited about the news we will get later today!!!! Can't wait.
Hope this will be a back to the roots car with the straight six (albeit turbo), low weight and agile handling. Hoping for a new quantum leap by BMW in this segment! |

I'm not aware of precisely what other sites are saying, but keep in mind:
- Regarding use of the word "revealed", it is not uncommon at all for BMW to publicize official specs and pictures well before the car makes its first real world appearance. I'm not saying that this means we'll see those things as early as this week, but expect to see them appreciably earlier than the debut in January at NAIAS. - There is not necessarily any correlation between having details about the car and it starting production. So expect the car to go into production in accordance with previously stated timelines regardless of when we are given officials specs and details from BMW. Quote:

This is perfect. Just sold the M3 a few weeks ago (without taking any hit), new specs and info on new M4 just coming out and not long till next summer and I (along with others) will have our new M4. Life is good and no complaints. Jason, thanks for the hook up with info.
