Welcome to Columbus! I'll try to make it. With three young kids I don't have much free time but would love to meet other M owners and check out some rides.

Saw a white F80 or F82 (can't remember how many doors you had) today getting off 271 by Mayfield (Wilson Mills). You gave me a thumbs-up, I was the blue TTRS... Anybody on here?

anyone with an M4 convertible willing to travel to the Dayton Ohio. I am looking to rent a M4 convertible for a photoshoot/ride for a hour in June. Will pay for time. Anyone interested? PM me.

A TT is just a shrunken Golf with more tire, better suspension, and less practicality. They are very nose-heavy and understeer is the default behavior. (well, the 2.0T and TTS might not be as bad, but the 3.2L VR6 TT and TTRS are both really nose-heavy, >60% front, with a lot of that out in front of the front axle.)

A TTRS is just a TT with a nice 5cyl turbo in the nose.

The 8J / Mk2 TTRS (what I have) is 6MT-only in the US, which is great in theory... but the 6MT they used is pulled from a diesel Tiguan SUV from europe, so it doesn't do well with being driven hard (synchros in 2 & 3 like to give out, the clutch isn't the greatest, etc). I like a good 6MT, but the one in the TTRS isn't that good (the S-tronic/DCT would probably be better). They only made this one in 2012 and 2013 for the US, but the nav system is circa 2007 or so... it uses a DVD for map storage.

Yeah, it's that bad.

You can't physically fit humans taller than about 4'11" in the back seat, because their heads will hit the roof... It's basically a 2 adult car, max. (you can cram kids in the back but that's it).

So given all of the above, I'm looking at getting into an M2... I've always wanted an M3, but the current M3/M4 are too large for my taste (as much as I'd like the extra goodies like the HUD).

They are super rare here though. Mine is #254 out of 421 sent here in 2012... There were another 500-some for 2013, and that's it. Less than 1k across two years in the US.

I bought my M4 to track periodically. There is a discount for the HPDE events for club members, not to mention some decent BMW owners that you get to know. I highly recommend attending a class even if you never plan to put your car on the track again.
