I like AY, as it is the LOUDEST color. But I don't want to be noticed all the time. SO is a happy middle ground.

One time I drove my wife's blue MDX - that color is not frequently seen in bay area. I was in a hurry, so made a few quick lane changes. By the time I got home, one of her friends had already pinged her about her aggressive driving. Apparently I had inadvertently cut her off. Oops. If I would drive an AY around, everyone will know my whereabouts.

I saw AY for the first time at the Detroit NAIAS for the M3/M4 debut in January, 2014. I fell hard for the AY on the M4 there - I knew at that moment it was AY for me - didn't consider any other colors from that point on.

2.5 years later - it is still hands down my favorite car color ever - I'm thinking of upgrading to a ZCP M3 and if and when I do - already made up my mind going AY again!!

One thing I miss about my black on black E63 wagon is it's sleeper status. My AY/SO M4 ZCP gets a lot more attention than I'm used to and there are days I regret not getting a more subtle color. However, being the first time I'm leasing a car, I decided to go all out.

There's no way I'd buy AY (esp. not with SO interior) but for a lease, it's fun. For now.

fwiw, I always thought it looked terrible, then I saw it in person when I did the PCD in greenville, and thought it actually looked really good. Still not my favorite, but shows better in person.

The color grew on me. However, whenever I see one, I still think of yellow gold chains and Russian M5s wrapped in gold, etc.

This was my concern. But fell in love with it as soon as I drove it home. I think I would have been disappointed in any other color knowing what I do now.

i love the color, but that's not the experience i had at all with the color. nonetheless, it is a great bang for the buck- 500 dollars will make the car pop a lot more if thats what you're looking for.

I have AY, and I do love it. I've had it over a year and I still look at it about 5 times when walking away in a parking lot. I am still amazed at how amazing it looks. Get compliments literally all the time. At least once a week so probably 50-60 or so. My favorite was at the gym on morning, two guys talking on the other side of the locker room;

Also had 2 or 3 haters but whatever.

I guess I would describe it in the following way; it's like showing up at a party with an outrageously attractive girl. The kind that all the guys and the girls can't stop looking at. You feel good because she's with you. However there are times now and then when you wish you weren't getting QUITE that much attention.

On balance though - I love the decision.

I get this kind of response with my 2015 SO M4, but I haven't had any haters.
