Struggling to enjoy the car because I love it so much that I over protect it. I get paranoid parking it anywhere that doesn't have massive space on either side of the car. It's my first actual nice car in my life.

ED delivery in December 2014 and up until today I don't even have 3,000 miles on it.

My daily is a 2008 Honda Accord sedan.

Yes of course I use winter tires. You've gotta remember his scale for the M3 was relative only to the M3, and likewise my scale for the S4 is relative only to the S4. I don't think you can compare my scale to his, it's not calibrated that way. But I think it's still useful info to know he didn't rate the M3 a 1, for example, during the winter and a 5 for the summer.

Who are you saving those miles for; the next owner? I did ED on 12/5, and I'm already coming up on 8400 miles. Get out and enjoy your car, life is too short to waste time not doing the things that make you happy. If something happens to it, the factory is still making them, and that's what insurance is for.

I've been a member here for a year and a half and I've read a million posts stating the exact opposite to your advice. Thank you for reminding us all doing this out way is allowed.

AGREED. Not sure why ppl have that mentality to preserve the car. Enjoy it while its still new. I'm breaking necks all over Europe right now and I have 1500 miles and it hasn't even been 2 weeks LOL.

Of course it is. It is a glorified 3 series for crying out loud. It is meant to be daily driven. Its not some exotic or classic that needs to be babied and weekend driven only. It is also currently my only car so I use it in all conditions for everything. The only time I feel the need for something different is during flooding/heavy thunderstorms when a 4x4 of some sort would be safer.

DD my F80. We have other cars I can drive, but, the ultimate purpose of this car is be a daily driver and a weekend warrior at the track. I have a child car seat at all times for my 2 year old and I even do Home Depot runs on it, fold the seats to fill it up with bags of mulch, home improvement and gardening materials etc. lol
I understand some (if not all of us) work very hard to have a car like this, but as some have mentioned, it's a car, a nice/fun one, but ultimately a mass produced car, so I use it as such.

My F80 is indeed my daily. I don't really have time for a daily + a "fun car", so I need them to be one and the same. I'll likely move on to something a bit more exotic for the next car, but I'm loving the F80 in the meantime. It's hard to beat for a DD.

That's for sure.

It's hilarious how differently us daily drivers see the car. The car is fast, smooth, fun for the duty miles, and when I get a change for a few fun miles wouldnt have the time to start charging batteries of the car I haven't started in months.

One of the people I met in my last road trip has an SO F80, with a nice scratch on the hood. He stated that fuck it, shit is bound to happen, it's better to accept it sooner rather than later.

I'm just waiting for my pile.

This is definitely not the right car to only drive on the weekends.

I'm the same way. My wife gave birth to our third child last night. Earlier that day we went to the store and I parked in the back and asked if she wanted me to park closer. She said she was fine. She is a trooper. She knows how I am about my cars

Exactly! I do not understand this mindset I the least. Why pay $70-$80k for a garage ornament? Paying for an M but driving a Honda just doesn't make any sense to me. You could set your M on fire today and have one EXACTLY like it in about 3-6 months.
