Tried programming the M1 button for efficient mode, but depending on atmospheric conditions, not terribly effective. Lift and coast + short shift works, but that one time you don’t, you’ll get flagged.

Overall, it’s kind of ridiculous that 90 dB days at a race track when normal street sound is 95 dB

Not my daily F80, but made a new personal best time by 2 seconds at Eagles Canyon. Gotta love being a member at a track... I got nearly every other weekend and no pressure to stay the whole day, especially during the crazy summer heat in Texas.

Modded sedans are the most photogenic on track, it's a fact.

You using Andy Pilgrim's times as reference points around there? He coaches as well. Having solo2 data of him driving your car would be $ https://www.motorsportspark.org/coaching/

Andy Pilgrim times on a production car are very hard if not impossible for lay people even in highly modded (coilover, slick, brake upgrades) cars. Pilgrim's time in a showroom stock GT3 RS is 2:11. Instructor level and advanced driving club members are lucky if they get to 2:20 flat on Hoosiers. Pilgrim's CS time is 2:16 I believe. The fastest F8X time at NCM recorded in the laptime thread is a 2:20 in a modded M2 on DH scrubs. My personal best is a 2:24 on Toyo RRs.

We are members of NCM's driving club and get a huge discount on andy's rates. However, between Wright and Busby (GM, and Ops Manager), we have free coaching on any club day. Busby runs a 2:09 in a time trial C5 on 285 width limit street tires. Wright and company have been winning champcar endurance races in their Miata. Pilgrim uses Vbox for lap comparisons and I honestly think he'd give you any data he has willingly. But its not your car. His coaching he drives your car just a bit quicker than you and then coaches you. Then he'll drive it faster and compare data. We actually see him all the time when he films the Pro Racer's take videos. You see him and his girlfriend at the track all the time. Both are very approachable.

Another option for coaching is Racecraft out of Indy who teaches the classroom lessons for 1010ths Motorsports HPDE's. My wife and I both attribute our rather quick rise through the ranks and instructor certifications because of NCM and 1010ths.

Ok, I have no life. Work and go to NCM... that's all I do. If I'm not driving I'm wrenching in the garage there. If not wrenching, I may just pedal the pits on my bike and stop and chat. I'm like a track groupie i suppose LOL.

Man, that substantial of a gap?? (No offense...) I'd be dying to see that M4 CS lap data, close enough to a well-modded F80 to be informative.

Coaching process sounds awesome.

No shame in that lifestyle! +1 to biking around the pits and between sessions. Massively underrated.

Coaching process sounds awesome. I'll ask for the Vbox data log that was made during this video. My entry speeds are about the same (on r-comps) but he's making time from apex to track out. He's obviously modulating the throttle better, but he's braking much later, but it looks so damn fluid!

No no, biking around the pits when I'm not even registered for that event? Lol

Oh...

haha. I don't see the problem. Day before last outing rode my bike 10 mls to the track to watch motorcycles for the last hour of their track weekend. I've never actually ridden a motorcycle, pretty much just wanted to check out the paddock scene and track vantage points I've never seen before. Also, wondered what times the fastest advanced riders were running. (Answer: GTS pace... ) It's all normal.

Well, if you ever venture to NCM please let me know! Hope you like sushi because the Japanese restaurant nearby is Pilgrim's favorite spot!

I tried to lift but i always wanted to gun it lol. Also felt like it was hurting my times and i felt what’s the point of expensive track day and car if i have to lift.. so F it I’ll just get meatballed lol. Laguna is an awesome track but i don’t like how you have to pay a lot more just to be at 98-100db kinda a rip I’m ready for Sonoma/T hill now.
