I am skeptical that the trim molds and assemblies will be changing for MY2016. What could have been so important about a few contours that they would reshape all those different trim pieces? There are dozens of different trim types that would be effected.

I can easily accept something like the button surround changing because that will not impact the surround trim pieces. But any change that would have a rippling effect to other parts of the interior for no apparent gain I would think would be ruled out for cost reasons.

In any case, I did look at those pictures and don't see any confirmation that the trim-proper is changing in any way. There are so many different lighting sources playing off the surfaces that they aren't reliable for that purpose. Heck look at the CF weave - it looks quite different between the two photos. Yet we aren't going to suggest that it will change for MY2016, right?

They photoshopped the trim into the M3 non-LCI interior (no sliding cupholder door, don't want the attention to be there), but those trim photos match these: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...41&postcount=1

The vent frames are built-in into the trim piece. The vent assemblies are a separate part. So by changing the vent frame BMW changed the trim itself.

True enough - I had forgotten that is the case. These pictures show an example of the trim off of the car:

Nevertheless, even with this being the case, I still don't consider the new option code to be verification that the 4/M4 get the chrome vent surrounds.

Guys the M4 is not getting the interior updates. Look at the trim descriptions, they are different from m4 to m3. BMW has even confirmed it to members who reached out to ask

Do you have a URL to the posts from people who received responses from BMW? I'd like to have a link to those here.

In any case, as in the past with conflicting information like this - in the end it is still a crap shoot, even when there is confirmed information from BMW (see past discussions about S55 bore/stroke, contrast stitching on extended leather interior, and others for examples).

So BMW confirmed that their own Ordering and Pricing Guides are incorrect as well?

I mean, both the M3 and M4 share the exact same trim descriptions and updated codes for MY2016.

I’m feeling like some people are thinking this M4 Nav issue is a potential deal breaker for them if the f82 turns out to have the same Nav as last year’s model. I love my gadgets but that seems a bit crazy. However, if someone is kinda on the fence between the M3/M4 I could probably understand if that might “contribute” to the decision of and M3 over and M4. Not saying I would let that sway me but I could understand.

I haven’t heard enough about the new Nav to really make me feel on way or the other. I mean faster hardware and free OTA map updates for 3 years sound great, but not earth shattering.

Right - we've seen lots of pictures, but when it comes to updating media to include finer details like this, it isn't always a priority to do so in a timely manner or at all for that matter. I was more interested in the people you had mentioned that contacted BMW and received specific responses back.

I find this a very interesting point. I was up to speed back in the E46 era but lost touch in the E90 era. Whatever happens either way is not a deal breaker for me. Have there been instances in the past where BMW's own presentation materials / documents were just plain wrong?

I'm go back to the document below. I find it a little hard to believe the M4 is getting ANY of the LCI updates and then they don't even mention it in their official documentation (I'm assuming this is official and not something Bimmerpost and a forum member put together?).

And one other thought, if they DO include all the interior changes, the M4 LCI would only be the exterior rear lights (assuming the same changes as the M3), in which case the 2015 to 2016 change would be more significant then the official 2017 LCI update.

Again i'm not sure how much I care either way, but my money is going on no changes whatsoever (asides from the standard equipment changes / msrp bump of course).

The addition of comfort access, sat radio, and HK surround are really nice, I was a bit bothered with the idea that to sat radio and comfort access I would have to spring for a 4k exec package.

The only OEM document that I trust in full is the Ordering Guide. Website and other documentation are known to have errors, not usually but sometimes (worst is the website). Errors/changes in the Ordering Guide are normally corrected by an updated released-date Ordering Guide within the same model year.

And in this particular case, the Ordering Guide for the MY2016 M3/M4 (same Ordering Guide, not separated) have all interior trims updated with new codes on both models compared with the MY2015 M3/M4 Ordering Guide.

It seems that BMW Deutschland (BMW.de) has updated the F80 configurator for the 2016 model year (after being removed for a few days)! The white HVAC display looks good!

F82 on bmw.de looks orange. The F80 has a white display.
