Still awaiting the new GT4 bumper cover…
Today, I had to cancel the order and move it to IND. superb service, and the bumper will be delivered painted and ready to go. I addition, have a GT4 wing on order from AP as well; hoping to have that in the next few weeks. looking forward to this mini build…and getting back to driving events after 5+ years… Stay tuned… |

update...now w/pics
Thanks to IND for getting the GT4 bumper ordered, painted and shipped.
Received the bumper last week and completed the install this past weekend. In general, having gone through the install process, I would say the install is straight forward; perhaps rated 5/10 in terms of complexity. You do have to figure out a few things... That said, I attempted to this without the GT4 bumper and must say it will raise the complexity to almost 10/10 if attempted with an OEM bumper - almost impossible to do it cleanly. Too much effort IMO to trim the lower side properly to mate with the splitter, in addition, lining up the holes would be very very difficult. With what you spend on the splitter - almost not worth to do without the GT4 bumper. Pretty much everything lined up with the GT4 bumper... That said, GT4 bumper is about 9#'s lighter - everything (grills, etc.) did move over the GT4 bumper, even the bmw roundel . The fitment as everything came together is 9.5/10 and you do not need modify the lower brackets holding the outer two radiators. Otherwise, they hit the top part of the integrated brake cooling ducts. I simply used a wheel cutter to work through this. Now that I have gone through it, I could do in 5-6 hours; assuming install is taking place with a GT4 bumper... Pics coming soon...next up, GT4 wing which should arrive in the next few days. Looks fantastic - though I can't get over the blue grille surround. The perfectly-spaced holes for the brake ducts and (what I assume are) canards are incredibly aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks for the pics!
Looks like the only real difference between the GT4 bumper vs the standard bumper is the cut out on the lower part of the main grille. Are the lower parts of the side grille cut out as well? |

The entire lower part (center and side grilles) of the bumper has a different line that mates it to the splitter. Got all the parts for the GT4 wing, hope to get started on this next week... |

GT4 Wing!!!
Installed the wing today, secret was the retrofit bracket sourced from bimmertunning…took about 4 hours, pretty much oem like clean fitment…
Car going in for cage in two weeks…will summarize the build in a few weeks. Last edited by ninekrpm; 08-14-2021 at 05:26 PM.. |

Rogue engineering has some rubber ones that are much better than stock and dont add any NHV. ECS has some poly mounts too but they add a lot of NHV, car felt like it was going over a rumble strip between 2.5-3K rpms.

Build update...
The build and fun continues with the F80GT4 build
Last weekend I prepared the car to install the rear suspension upgrades and the diff carrier with the solid bushings... Took about 6 solid hours to prep the car and drop the subframe (see below), will first focus on installing the KMP diff carrier and bushings and then finish off by replacing the upper links/arms and the lower control arm. I figure I have another 10ish hours of work get this job done. Hope to finish next weekend...stay tuned for more pics. The weight reduction efforts continue, can you tell me what is missing Stay tuned for more... |
