RK Tunes, SSR, MSR and I think there is another brand are ALL the same setup.
See which 1 is more cost effective for your budget.
The design to receive large volumes of cooler air from the front kidney grilles are the most effective
Other then that stick with the OEM box with charcoal filter delete and install the BMC performance filter.
This will be the best performance 100%
Esthetically wise if your looking for carbon fiber, the AWE has fitment issues and if you install upgraded charge pipes you have to buy a specific brand the ER.
Eventuri is amazing looking but deff high priced BUT, they offer in multiple color carbon weaves which is simply awesome to look at.
Good luck

Hey,

If you guys want to stick w/ the current trend (non-ideal) designs,
take a look at the following:

Nope! (- They became quite defensive when I asked, "Where was it made?")

A storied company from ///Ms' past.

Cheers!

Hey,

Umm,

...there are really are no noticeable (Hp.) gains to be had.

Youre two "favorites" are like "Comparing Apples & Oranges". These are at the extreme ends of the ("CAI") spectrum.

* "RK Tunes" - Front Facing, Alu. & Cheap-er (than MSR or Max PSI) because they are made in China/Taiwan.

* "EVenturi" - Engine Bay exposed filter elements - (Hot) air, C.F. Art & Much more expensive because of it.

Cheers!

Reread my post.

I named RK autowerks not RK-Tunes

A much better quality than the brands you mentioned

Here's a link of their products.
https://www.rkautowerks.com/index.ph...fiber-intakes/

You welcome.

Hey,

"RK Autowerks", I stand corrected.

Expensive. Where are they actually manufactured?

"...quality"?!? How so? "Max PSI" is award winning.

Thanks!

Can you provide dyno curves proving there are no gains?

The only dyno plots I've seen are from manufacturers showing 10-15hp gains.

I haven't seen any dyno plots proving that gains are absent.

If you are saying there are no gains, are you claiming that manufacturers are being dishonest with their dyno graphs?

Just got an M4 and I'm in the same boat. I keep seeing people recommend BMS but the videos I've seen of the sound quality just don't sound barely any different than stock.

I also was wondering which intakes don't require tuning, I read on SSR's website that you have to install a tune to turn the check engine light off.

Pretty much looking for the same sound as RK Autowerks or MSR but don't care about the CF and not trying to spend $2k+ on an intake

**** Correction****

Hey,

An intake should never throw a CEL, unless your MAF sensor is not properly re-installed or you have a leak.

"RK Autowerks" is made in **"America"**.

My recommendation:

* "Maximum PSI"

https://maximumpsi.com/product/maxim...d-air-intakes/

True CAI - Filter elements not in the Engine Bay sucking up hot air! High quality and Made in USA.

Cheers!

Hey,

I should think about charging a consultancy fee.

An intake should never throw a CEL, unless your MAF sensor is not properly re-installed or you have a leak.

"RK Autowerks" is made in Taiwan. For that profit margin/mark up, I'd get a "Dinan"! It's at least sealed, as
is stock and from a reputable company with a history!

My recommendation:

* "Maximum PSI"

RK autowrek is made from Taiwan? Since when?

Also, the maximum psi intakes need little trimming for installation, I don't know if I want to hack up the car for intakes

Yeah I think people get them confused with another product. RK Autowerks is also the only one I'd spend that type of money on because they're located near me so I'd trust their installation quality compared to a product that requires trimming.

Hey,

Re: "RK Autowerks" - I was initially interested in their C.F. C.A.I.

* I wrote them an e-mail asking where was their C.F. actually autoclaved - They never responded.

* Nowhere on their CF CAI's page does it say "Made in USA" - Something, I believe most Co.'s.
would highlight as a positive selling point.

I AM - may be - Wrong - "Made in America."

Re: "Max. PSI" - I believe that was their previous design. Drop them an e-mail to be sure.

I may be talking out of my a** and be completely wrong but, if so and I wanted C.F. & for that
amount of $$, I would nonetheless go for the Dinan C.F. C.A.I. As it adheres to the original BMW
engineers' stock design.

Cheers!

I'm right smack in the middle of this now.

Drop in Filter and Carbon filter delete is the best bang for the buck. Do this instead if you're looking at the closed airbox systems like injen evo, gruppeM, Dinan or anything that's enclosed and uses the factory plumbing.

As far as open air intakes like BMS, ESS, and etc make sure you get the air scoop along with your intake. The factory plumbing needs a seal for it to bring air to your intakes and will not work without it.

If you're purely going for cosmetic, grab whatever CF system you can get.

I have the injen evo intake now and you can definitely hear the spooling sound but it's not loud enough for my taste. I just picked up a maximum psi kit and getting in installed Saturday because I want more intake noise.

Hope that helps.

I have the RK Autowerks intake.

Pros

- Good support
- Looking good

Cons

- Not sure about heavy rain
- Cleaning filters is not fun

As much as I love the intake I would not go with a front mount again...

Have you ever tried other intakes? Also, for the price point is it worth it for the sound? That's my main concern.

Well.....depends...

For a stock F80 or F82 maybe... for a ZCP with exhaust mods...nope, I don't think so.

If you get them, make sure you get the second generation filter style.

Thanks! I'm trying to stay away from exhaust mods because I don't want the raspy, ricey sound that most exhausts are going to produce on these cars. Main reason I'm more focused on an intake right now. Looking mostly for the turbo noise instead of just being loud as hell for no reason

I use the VRSF. it is cheap, functional and doesn't sound like a vacuum cleaner. takes the filters out of the hot engine bay as well. yes install was a PITA, but it does fit.
