And then takes them out with the introduction of every new 3-series. I don't understand this thinking.

So, this MAY actually exist on the car (haven't spent enough time in a well optioned 3er), but the M5 I drove did not have this capability.
The cars usually have a setting where you can set a buzzer or something to come on at a preset speed. As far as I know, NO ONE ever uses these settings, since you drive on all sorts of different roads. Also, the new BMW's can be had with an optional speed limit camera thing that 'reads' speed limit signs and displays the info on the Nav screen and/or HUD. Why are these not linked? I would totally use the buzzer if I could link it either to the speed limit (or preferably indexed to the speed limit). If you could set that buzzer to "Speed limit +X" (where X could be whatever you want - 10 mph for example), then I would get an awesome reminder next time I'm bombing down the highway, and the speed limit changes without me noticing or whatever. Make this happen BMW! The hardware is there, just needs a few lines of code. |

I wish they had gone back to the true m3, an N/A 4-cylinder design.
Barring that, I wish they would have gone back to the true m3: an inline six N/A design used for 2 generations. Barring that, I wish they would have gone back to a high-revving N/A v8 that had crappy fuel economy and poor low end torque. ... But NoooOOO...BMW had to go all twin turbo inline six with better fuel economy, better tunability (potentially), better torque..... |

0-60 less than 4 secs
And better track time than the domestic muscle cars. (not that I care but that is what every M driver claims) I sure hope they left some allowance for us the be able to tweak the Turbos..... But i think I am asking for too much this time when a S6 or AMG 63 will blow us off the line and Mustang, Camaro and the new Vette will out perform around the track.

I'd be at the dealership, today, with cash if this were true. LS7 would weigh less than the S55, make an additional 100hp/80 ft.lb, weigh less, and you could strip all of that extra cooling crap out of the engine bay. And the mod potential is nearly endless...

But not consistently. The E90 and F30 pre-LCI's don't have it. Neither did the E46 sedan/wagon, iirc. The E60 5ers didn't have it either, nor did the E82 1ers. Actually, the F25 X3 doesn't have it either.
Meanwhile, the LEDs were on the B8 A4, C6 A6, whateveritis A8, A3, and just about everything. |

LED's are standard on exotics like Pruis' and Kia's, Hyundai's. But not until the LCI on BMW's. .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

As always I'm 100% sure that more than half of M owners will never go to the track. So V8 is just bragging rights, just like people with V8/10 SUVs who never towed anything and only drive in the city. That being said... I want AWD for the M4 so it can compete with the RS5 and the future AMG AWD.

Im still confused to these comments. S2k and my current car are my favorite so far. High revving engines that scream to 9k rpm. What do you think the gt3 does? |
