I personally love this test but Map 2 is the real one to compare against stage 2. But I guess us 93 octane guys are spoiled |

It really doesnt matter what he dynos vs anyone elses. Its about what he dynos JB4 to the tune and the differences. |

I never said jb4 was bad. Don't know where you got that. Search my user name and show me where I once ever said anything was bad about JB4. I've said nothing but good things about it and the phone app is awesome. Why is map 2 the one to test? If I'm 91 octane vs 91 octane that seems plenty fair to me. Where I live there is no 91 so that's useless. I do run e85 mix on the Jb4 map 2 but would that be fair to VF to do a Jb4 map2 e85 run vs VF stage 2 91 pull since their stage 2 is only for 91?

Example.. I had a vendor tell me how much faster GIAC was than JB4 then it put down crap power and got dusted. Looking forward to the results tho... I would love to see a flash tune that really produces. |

Who knows, people do crazy things for their love of cars. Most of us aren't that much different.

It's not all about power at the end of the day... although it is a major factor. Flash tuning is a huge plus on DCT cars. Using a piggyback doesn't allow the TCU to get true values so it's a lot less smooth than a flash car and when you're running huge power it can have catastrophic issues. A manual car probably wouldn't be affected as much. I'd rather have a lower powered vehicle that drives smooth and puts down the power right but more power with stock smoothness is even better.

Notes taken: VRSF downpipes and 91 Octane
VF Stage 2 tune = ~+30 - 35 hp and ~+60 torque over JB4 Map 1 (same day) In which gear did they do the dyno pulls? |

Hex Tune dyno curves sure looks good. However, I noticed the Hex tune bhp and tq ... come in a good 400 rpm later than JB4. Crucially ... comes in at a rather high 3,200 rpm. I suspect it will lag more in stop start city driving compared to the JB4. No doubt, highway pulls it will be like a freight train ... haha Keen to get your impressions ... especially stop start daily driving from traffic lights to traffic lights. and of course ... that burble !! |
